network logos
I just noticed the use of Television network logo's on List of Australian television ratings for 2006. This is not a Fair Use of the image under the current Fair Use policy of Misplaced Pages. The images should be removed from that page and substituted with the network name. --TheDJ (talk • contribs • WikiProject Television) 20:42, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- This is correct. Fair use images are not allowed to be used for decorative purposes.--cj | talk 11:02, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Insight article does not need to be created, just expanded

TEN idents
Between me and Eddie Blake, we had uploaded most of the Network TEN idents on List of Network TEN slogans. Someone has blanked out the section, is there a way to revert it? It's a lot of work to type the table up again. BTW, nice job on the WP stickeylabel. ~ Trisreed my talk my contribs 13:10, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Article collaboration and assessment
Partly because it's currently wrapping airing and that I have an interest in it, I've been heavily contributing to The Biggest Loser Australia (Season 2) and thought it could be collaborated on further while information about the show is still available and ripe, before interest wains and information is harder to gather. I've been doing a bit of work on it and would really like to try and get it to a GA or A status somehow, as there are none in Australian Television articles. I think the information there is pretty much all that can be said about the show, besides the sub article for complete list of episodes (currently at work in my sandbox) and bulking out some of the sections a little, wording it more concisely and adding some primary images. I was wondering how the article could be improved to achieve a higher assessment rating, or if it's already achieved that? As a side, I was wondering if the naming convention is correct, ie. maybe the article should actually be something more like: The Biggest Loser (Australian TV series) Season 2 or The Biggest Loser (Australian TV series: Season 2) or The Biggest Loser 2 (Australian TV series). Pay-TV
Can we have a Pay-TV version of {{Australian free-to-air television networks}} made? - Mike Beckham 05:22, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- Certantly, that was my original goal. I will work on one in the near future. Thanks. Stickeylabel 05:44, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have completed the Australian subscription television navigational box as can be seen at {{Subscription television channels in Australia}}. Thanks. Stickeylabel 10:55, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Category trawling
Greetings fellow tv watchers – just found comment at Category:Home and Away cast members where a vote for change from category to list earlier this year has not been followed up. Wondering if anyone was going to followup on that issue or not. No sweat either way – thought I'd bring it to your attention, cheers SatuSuro 00:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
News presenter infoboxes
I've been browsing and noticed a bit of incosistency between the various news presenter infoboxes (). I'm about to create ones for the ABC and SBS in the same style as http://en.wikipedia.org/Template:SevenNewsAnchors given that it's the only one using http://en.wikipedia.org/Template:Navbox_generic – which appears to be the correct one.
Right now I'm working to fix this – I was just wondering if anybody had a particular opinion on it. timgraham 11:26, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- Template:ABCNewsPresenters has been created: . I'm currently adding it to each presenter's article.
- Great work TimG, the infoboxes are very consistant, and I'd love to see an SBSNewsPresenters infobox. Stickeylabel 21:44, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- SBS's be done: http://en.wikipedia.org/Template:SBSNewsPresenters. I've added what I know about past presenters to the ABC/SBS ones although I'm sure there are a lot that are missed out – if anyone knows any past presenters (particularly ABC) it'd be good if they could add them. timgraham 04:27, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
ive added info boxes a while ago for National Nine news presenters, and the today show. Template:NineNewsAnchors and Template:TodayPresenters
SBS News & Current Affairs
Given that all links relating to news and current affairs on SBS in general point to SBS World News Australia, I feel that there should probably be a page similar to ABC News and Current Affairs – given that the ABC and SBS are very simmilar, the structure of each section should probably be roughly similar. Does anyone else have thoughts on this? timgraham 11:55, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
News Service Layout
- The discussion has been moved from the National Nine News talk page.
It was agreed on the WIN Television talk page that these headings were unneccessary and ugly – I'd like to question why they're included here? They don't add to that article and they prevent the proper structure from appearing in the table of contents and they are inconsistent with almost any other article on Misplaced Pages. There's also a number of web accessibility issues that arise from using tables for layout. timgraham 03:36, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- I agree and I also propose an overhaul of news service article's that are covered by WikiProject Australian television. I believe the current layout is inconsistent with almost any other article on Misplaced Pages, and I believe that we should set a precedent for all other news service article's to follow. As this issue covers a range of articles for WikiProject Australian television, I have therefore moved discussion to Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Australian television. Stickeylabel 04:25, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think the layout on the articles needs improvement, but so does their content – at the moment many of them are little more than an introductory paragraph and list of presenters – ideally something more like the article for World News Australia – some history and background and then details for each bulletin (ideally stuff about past names, presenters, signifagance, whatever). timgraham 06:10, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- I totally agree, alot of the articles are merely lists and serve little purpose. I think the first task should be to expand the articles, and to cite alot fo the information also. I have worked a bit on the navigation, however it will still need some more work. Stickeylabel 09:21, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Having recently rescued the Seven News article from being a glorified list of late, it appears that some have begun to add useless presenter details – I'd just like to point out that it's easier to follow when you have meaningful information rather than complicated bullet points.
- Great work TimG, the article is far easier to read, and has much more substance. Also, it's great to see the bulk of lists integrated into actual paragraphs. I have added the article to my watch list, so I can monitor any vandalism. Stickeylabel 22:48, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Episode coverage
The WikiProject Television episode coverage taskforce have recently been working on a review process for episode articles. There are a rash of articles about individual episodes which fail notability, and are unlikely to ever reach such requirements. Many contributors are unaware of the specific guidelines to assess notability in episode pages: Misplaced Pages:Television episodes. We have expanded these guidelines to make them more helpful and explanatory, and we invite you to read the guidelines, and make any comments on its talk page. After much discussion, we have created a proposed review process for dealing with problem articles. See: Misplaced Pages:Television article review process. We invite discussion of this process on its talk page. General comments about this whole process are welcome at the episode coverage taskforce talkpage. Thanks! Gwinva 10:13, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Australian television
May I please request that all members join the discussion at Talk:Australian television, and collaborate to expand the stub. The article is in need of immediate attention due to its high importance for WikiProject Australian television. Australian television should become an article of which summarises programming, broadcasting, news, presenters, and ratings, and which provides links to the main articles for each of these areas. Please continue discussion either below, or at Talk:Australian television, and please contribute to the article to raise its class status. Stickeylabel 08:35, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Ten News articles
I'm a little confused as to why there are three articles for Ten News – the main one, Ten Early News and Ten Late News with Sports Tonight. None of the other Australian stations have individual articles for each bulletin, and Ten News isn't particularly distinctive or different, not enough to warrant a totally different structure of article.
I think the main one needs to be the focus moreso than seperate ones for each bulletin. I would do the whole propose-to-merge-and-discuss-it thing but I'm not sure how. What are others' thoughts?timgraham 04:58, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- I totally agree timgraham, I have now merged Ten Early News and Ten Late News with Sports Tonight into Ten News. Each bulletin does not deserve a seperate article. Stickeylabel 06:32, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, it needs a bit of attention (it's lacking a bit content-wise). I'll try and add some more info over the next few days. timgraham 09:44, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Good work with the copy-editing of the Ten News article Tim :), I'll help try and expand a few sections as it currently seems to be stub-like. Stickeylabel 10:44, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- The article seems to have been reverted with certain sections. I will try and fix and expand certain sections soon. Stickeylabel 06:06, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Digital television in Australia
May I please request that all members of the WikiProject join the collaboration at Talk:Digital television in Australia, in order to expand the article, and raise it to a GA standard. Thanks. Stickeylabel 06:59, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Optus Aurora
I was about to start an article on it but noticed it had been deleted – why? I can see there is an article for RABS which to be honest confuses me since I can't really tell what it's actually about. It says that Optus Aurora is the platform although they appear to be the same.
I'm inclined to go with Optus Aurora though because of this description on Optus' website:
The Optus Aurora system provides transmission of free–to-air services for the national broadcasters, remote area commercial broadcasters, business television providers, radio broadcasters and audio narrowcasters. Reception of the services can be direct to home (DTH) or direct to business (DTB) via a satellite dish, set top box and Optus Aurora smartcard, or via retransmission facilities using terrestrial transmitters for broadcast to TV's.
The Optus Aurora system is designed to operate in an encrypted format, making use of smartcards, within the set top boxes, to decrypt the services applicable to the entitlements on the particular smartcard, held by the set top box. There are a few special instances where a small number of Aurora services are transmitted without encryption, allowing reception without a smartcard, but in general an official Optus Aurora smartcard is required for correct operation.
I think it would be correct to say that it's more a part of RABS, than the same thing.
Anyway, what are people's thoughts on creating thise article? I think it's pretty important since it's the only way for a lot of Australians to receive television.timgraham 05:23, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- I agree Tim, in my opinion just create the article at Optus Aurora, and delete the RABS article, as in my opinion an Optus Aurora article would be more appropriate. I am not sure why it was initally deleted though. Stickeylabel 05:38, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Research links
Since there doesn't seem to be huge amounts of info I thought I'd start a list here of sites that might help with respect to researching and referencing stuff in Australian TV articles. The following sites might be of use:
- http://www.abc.net.au/wa/tv/history.htm < I'll do something with this too.
- http://www.sevencorporate.com.au/
- http://news.ninemsn.com.au/presenters/ < oddly enough includes SA/WA info too
- http://www.ketupa.net/seven.htm < there are also other network profiles if you dig hard enough
- http://www.imparja.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=36&Itemid=49
- http://www.abc.net.au/news/tags/media
There are a few others I've probably forgotten.
And another thing, how come all the articles for the various ABC regions (eg ABC Western have been merged with the respective capital city articles? There's a lot more to them than just the ABC TV stations – local radio for one, and there are quite a few of those. The ABC themselves tend to detail their history in terms of radio and television rather than just one or the other, so it would be good to dem-merge those articles. timgraham 02:18, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Television ratings in Australia
Ratings information pages to be removed due to copyright violation 04.09.2012. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spencer Anne (talk • contribs) 07:03, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
The article, Television ratings in Australia, is in need of urgent attention. There is alot of information that could be ellaborated in this article, however at current it is very stub-like. I have added a framework for the article, however it is still minimal and other sections could be added. I have created a discussion section at Talk:Television ratings in Australia. Stickeylabel 13:17, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Categories
If you go down to "Categories" on the WikiProject Australian television page, you'll see that clicking on "Australian television series" reveals five categories. Is there any plausible reason why should have its own sub-category? Although there may be more than one page on Farscape, it doesn't mean that it should be elevated to the same level as other sub-categories which are clearly of a different nature (e.g. Australian television series by genre), surely? Cyril Washbrook 08:46, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Current programming schedules?
I have noticed some pages contain listing of the current programming schedules. Should they really be included? According to Misplaced Pages:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_directory they shouldn't be. I'm not familiar with the Aus TV project so I bought it up here first rather than just barge in. Wongm (talk) 08:16, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- (delayed reaction) I agree with you. I have started a discussion about this at Misplaced Pages:Village pump (policy)#Television schedules in network articles. Anyone with an opinion about this should go there and express their opinion. In lack of any dissenting opinions, I am going to remove the schedules from Australian TV network articles per WP:NOT a TV Guide. – Mark 02:27, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Centralized TV Episode Discussion
Over the past months, TV episodes have been redirected by (to name a couple) TTN, Eusebeus and others. No centralized discussion has taken place, so I'm asking everyone who has been involved in this issue to voice their opinions here in this centralized spot, be they pro or anti. Discussion is here . Even if you have not, other opinions are needed because this issue is affecting all TV episodes in Misplaced Pages. --Maniwar (talk) 02:11, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair use images in Australian television articles
I have just performed a quite exhaustive (and exhausting) examination of a large number of Australian TV articles, to find fair use images which are being used in articles without fair use rationales for their use in those specific articles. I have created a list of all of them, which I will paste below. If anyone is interested in saving these images from being deleted/removed from use, please add detailed fair use rationales to the image pages, then strike through the image name below to indicate which ones have been done. – Mark 17:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme
As you may have heard, we at the Misplaced Pages 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.
- The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
- The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
- A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.
Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.
Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Misplaced Pages 1.0 scheme! Michael Pate
Michael Pate is currently in the nominations for Misplaced Pages:Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight, so any support votes would greatly assist. For a actor who was internationally renowned for staring in over 300 television shows here in Australia and the U.S.A. his article could do with much improvement. Someone has even asked that his article be deleted stating: the actor is not important and irrelevent. The following is a copy of what I've posted on Talk:Home and Away:
Further up on this page in April I signalled that I had tagged a gazillion Home and Away character articles as being unreferenced, and that if reliable sources weren't given for them, there would be mass deletions in the near future. Well, I've just gone through the ones I tagged and haven't found more than a couple of random references given for them in the 5 months (or more) they have been tagged, so I have removed all unreferenced material. Any material which gets added to them in future without a reliable source given as a reference will get reverted by me. According to the Verifiability policy, "any material challenged... should be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation" and "the burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material".
My concern with these articles is that they have become places for fans to publish their own analyses and synthesis based upon one primary source (the show). This is pretty blatant violation of the No Original Research rule. – Mark 02:10, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages 0.7 articles have been selected for Australian television
Misplaced Pages 0.7 is a collection of English Misplaced Pages articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Misplaced Pages:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.
We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Misplaced Pages talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Misplaced Pages:Release Version Nominations.
A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.
We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Misplaced Pages 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 23:15, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Underbelly Series
What you people think of creating an article about the underbelly series.
Sorta how film series have them like; spiderman, x-men, bond, harry potter. Judging that theres meant to be a third series by years end...... it would be a good thing to do yeah?

Coordinators' working group
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 04:52, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Article alerts
This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Misplaced Pages:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Misplaced Pages talk:Article alerts.

Program / Programme
No doubt this has been well and truly discussed somewhere in the past, but it did strike me as odd to see that all Australian TV programmes on wikipedia appear to be called (TV program). Was there consensus gained at some stage to use the American spelling even for Australian topics? It's hard to imagine this has been overlooked, but just wanted to check here.--Jeff79 (talk) 10:12, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
FAR notice for Kylie Minogue
I have nominated Kylie Minogue for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. WP 1.0 bot announcement
This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Dannii Minogue GA Sweeps: On Hold
I have reviewed Dannii Minogue for GA Sweeps to determine if it still qualifies as a Good Article. In reviewing the article I have found several issues, which I have detailed here. Since the article falls under the scope of this project, I figured you would be interested in contributing to further improve the article. Please comment there to help the article maintain its GA status. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! Unreferenced BLPs
G'day TV fans, I'm not sure if you're aware of the issues surrounding unreferenced BLPs over the past 6 or so weeks, but we've been working through a list of over Australian 2000 unreferenced biographies of living people and we are down to under 500 – but almost 200 of them are actors – heaps from the Aussie soaps. Can someone from this project please assist in providing sources for these articles, or else there is a risk that they will be deleted. Have a look here for the list. We've had people working hard on politician, sportsmen and musicians but actors have been left behind a bit. Thanks The-Pope (talk) 11:56, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Virginia Hey needs attention
The article on Virginia Hey has major WP:BLP issues in that much of the information is cited as coming from one source – the infamous IMDb. There are enough articles on her, not to mention material related to Farscape, to provide reputable sourcing. The talk page included a request for some corrections that had been left unfulfilled since 2007! (I attended to one of the issues). 68.146.81.123 (talk) 14:21, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Updates to TV#MOS
I'm not sure how many people monitor WP:MOSTV or even WP:TV (the basic WikiProject for all of us), but we've been trying to get some feedback on additions to the TV Manual of Style. It largely has to do with the inclusion of "Overview" tables at the start of the page, the order in which season lists are presented (currently, there is no concrete order), and what is considered too much info for DVDs (i.e. should we be placing every detail about the box set in the article, from each interview to the aspect ratio, or should be keep it more generalized). Please see discussion at WT:MOSTV#Updates to the MOS. Thank you. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 22:04, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Australian television articles have been selected for the Misplaced Pages 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Misplaced Pages articles selected by the Misplaced Pages 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Australian television articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Misplaced Pages talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Misplaced Pages talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Misplaced Pages for Schools to extend the reach of Misplaced Pages worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

WikiProject cleanup listing
I have created together with Smallman12q a toolserver tool that shows a weekly-updated list of cleanup categories for WikiProjects, that can be used as a replacement for WolterBot and this WikiProject is among those that are already included (because it is a member of Category:WolterBot cleanup listing subscriptions). Call-signs
Greetings from the Great White North, everyone! I'm considering giving the radio and television stations an overhaul to bring them more in line with those of Canada and the United States (specifically, call-signs, transmitter power, frequency information... examples would be WDIV-TV and CFPL-FM). I thought I'd ask around to see what the consensus would be, before just going in and getting to work by myself. RingtailedFox • Talk • Contribs 04:41, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Merger of this project into WikiProject Television as a task force
It has been suggested that WikiProject Australian television be merged into WikiProject Television as a task force since the project might be inactive or semi-active. After reviewing this project that it appears that there have not been any active discussion on the talk page in some time and the only content updates appear to be simple maintenance so being supported by a larger project might be beneficial. If you have questions or comments, please let us know. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 08:31, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

A few formatting issues
Hi fellow editors, I'm going through a few of your articles. Please note:
- Usually avoid repeat links
- Usually avoid linking common country-names, including Australia and New Zealand, in the infobox too.
- Avoid linking English (language), in the infobox too.
- Italicise the names of programs.
Thanks Tony (talk) 11:49, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Timeline of Australian television
I have nominated Timeline of Australian television for featured list removal here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured list criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks; editors may declare to "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here.
Please ensure that articles on TV shows show SD or HD correctly in the infobox.
I've noticed countless errors in articles relating to Australian TV shows. Almost all of them list two formats: 576i and 1080i (HD). In most cases, this is incorrect. The resolutions listed in the infoboxes refer to *broadcast* resolutions, so while most Australian TV shows may be produced in HD, they are almost all only broadcast in SD. This is because 7, 9, and 10 are all SD-only channels, and have been for several years. HD content is only shown on GEM, 7Mate, and One HD. As such, probably 90% of Australian TV shows are only broadcast in SD. Please ensure that when creating new articles, the correct format is listed. Also, If a show is SD only, then it will only be in stereo, and not Dolby Digital.MisterZed (talk) 13:19, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Another important note: if a show was broadcast in HD in Australia, then listing *only* Dolby Digital is incorrect. Unlike the USA, where Dolby Digital is the only sound format used with digital TV (regardless of SD/HD), in Australia, Dolby Digital is only used in HD broadcasts. SD broadcasts use a different format, stereo only. So both stereo and Dolby Digital must be listed.MisterZed (talk) 06:00, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
Articles nominated for deletion
I have nominated 2006 Australian network television schedule and 2007 Australian network television schedule for deletion. You are invited to participate in the the deletion discussion. DH85868993 (talk) 01:35, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Deborah Mailman article desperately needs updating
Deborah Mailman is a very important Aboriginal Australian actress for both TV and Film. Her article needs updating ASAP as there are few sources and little information on her. Foxtel
Hello, I'm trying to find a list of Foxtel-only channels. Can you add that to that article or "Subscription television in Australia"? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.26.167.252 (talk) 23:29, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
- This is actually an interesting idea. I recently updated the Fetch TV article, and noted those channels that were exclusively avilable on Fetch and NOT on Foxtel. I don't know if such a list would be considered strong enough to exist on it's own, but it could be included within another article, perhaps Foxtel or Television in Australia or the channels template? Leaflet for Wikiproject Australian Television at Wikimania 2014
Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.
One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.
This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:
• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film
• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.
• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.
• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____
• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost
The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014
For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Misplaced Pages struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Misplaced Pages:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

WikiConfererence Australia 2015 - Save the date 3-5 October 2015
Our first Australian conference for Wikipedians/Wikimedians will be held 3-5 October 2015. Organised by Wikimedia Australia, there will be a 2-day conference (Saturday 3 October and Sunday 4 October) with an optional 3rd day (Monday 5 October) for specialist topics (unconference discussions, training sessions, etc). The venue is the State Library of Queensland in Brisbane. So put those dates in your diary! Note: Monday is a public holiday is some states but not others. Read about it here: WikiConference Australia 2015
As part of that page, there are now sections for you to:
- indicate your interest in possibly attending the conference (this is not a binding commitment, of course)
- add suggestions for topics to include in the conference: what you would like to hear/discuss (again, there is no commit to you presenting/organising that topic, although it’s great if you are willing to do so), or indicate your enthusiasm for any existing topic on the list by adding a note of support underneath it
It would really help our planning if you could let us know about possible attendance and the kind of topics that would make you want to come. If you don’t want to express your views on-wiki, please email me at kerry.raymond@wikimedia.org.au or committee@wikimedia.org.au
We are hoping to have travel subsidies available to assist active Australasian Wikipedians to attend the conference, although we are not currently in a position to provide details, but be assured we are doing everything we can to make it possible for active Australian Wikipedians to come to the conference. Kerry (talk) 00:17, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Folks, just letting you know we will not be proceeding with Wikiconference Australia 2015 originally proposed for 3-5 October 2015. Thanks to those of you who expressed your support. You are free to attend the football finals instead :-) Kerry (talk) 07:50, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
Wiki Loves Pride!
You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!
- What? Wiki Loves Pride, a campaign to document and photograph LGBT culture and history, including pride events
- When? June 2015
- How can you help?
- 1.) Create or improve LGBT-related articles and showcase the results of your work here
- 2.) Upload photographs or other media related to LGBT culture and history, including pride events, and add images to relevant Misplaced Pages articles; feel free to create a subpage with a gallery of your images (see examples from last year)
- 3.) Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)
Or, view or update the current list of Tasks. This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Visit the group's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Misplaced Pages, plain and simple, and all are welcome!
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's main talk page.
Thanks, and happy editing!
