The FIFA Club World Championship is planned to replace the Intercontinental Cup. Instead of playing only the European and Southamerican Champions, the competition will have all the champions from the 6 continents. Teams are to play 7 matches in only 8 days, except for the European and Southamerican champions, who will only play two.

The first edition will take place in Tokyo, between the 11th and 18th of December, 2005.
