Neerali (lit. 'Octopus') is an upcoming 2018 Indian Malayalam-language film directed and edited by Ajoy Varma and starring Mohanlal and Parvatii Nair in the lead role. It began principal photography in the first week of January 2018.
Cast
Production
The film is financed by Santhosh T. Kuruvilla under his company Moonshot Entertainment and co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikadan. It is the second production of Moonshot Entertainment and their maiden Malayalam film after Nimir. The film was written by Saju Thomas and directed by Ajoy Varma, an editor, is making his debut in Malayalam cinema; had earlier directed Bollywood films S.R.K and Dus Tola. The untitled film was officially announced by Mohanlal, who plays the lead role on 3 October 2017. It was said to begin filming soon after he finishes his work in Odiyan. When asked, Varma said to The Times of India that the film is a "drama-thriller" set in Mumbai, Pune, and Sri Lankan locales, and the principal photography would took place between December 2017 and January 2018. Since more clarity was to be made for few more details, Mohanlal's character and the rest of the cast was not revealed. The film's title was revealed on 27 January 2018 along with a title poster.
Principal photography began on 9 January 2018 in Mumbai. Santosh Thundiyil was the cinematographer. Parvatii shot in the first day. Mohanlal joined the sets in January fourth week. Sunil Rodriguez was the action choreographer, while Serena Tixeria was the make-up artist. Himanshi Nijhawan was the costume designer and Udai Prakash Singh was the art director.
