The Super Cup (also known as the Hero Super Cup for sponsorship reasons) is a knockoutfootball tournament in India. The tournament will feature teams which finish top 6(including 4 teams from the other teams) from both the I-League and Indian Super League. Both leagues are considered joint top divisions for professional football in India. The tournament will be organized by the All India Football Federation.
Format
The Indian Super Cup is a knockoutfootball tournament. The top six teams from both the top tier leagues for professional football in India, the I-League and Indian Super League, will qualify directly for the competition. The bottom four clubs from each league will participate in qualification matches to complete the 16 teams which participate in the tournament proper. The 2018 will be held at Kalinga Stadium.
History
On 19 February 2018, the All India Football Federation announced the creation of the Indian Super Cup as a replacement for the Federation Cup, India's main knockoutfootball tournament. The qualifiers for the inaugural tournament are to begin on 15 March and conclude on 31 March 2018. The tournament proper will then commence on 5th April and conclude with the final on 25 April 2018.
