It was a book cover for a Gary Moore songbook and was tagged as such. A different user, for some reason, decided it wasn't a book cover and changed it. It's not worth trying to find the publishing info on the book because the image wasn't tht good to begin with. Anger22 09:40, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Admin?

Well, what do you think? Ready to give WP:RfA a whirl? With 11000+ edits, 7 months of experience, an eye for maintenance work, and a cool temperament, I think you're a great candidate. Let me know. --Spangineer (háblame) 16:08, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

You can count on my vote, thats for sure--KaptKos 16:16, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Golly gee whiz gosh, I'm humbled :) . I really do appreciate the vote of confidence...but...right now my work schedule is a bit hectic. Popping in and out to rv vandals is easy(I can do that in my sleep). But I don't really have time to focus, Q&A wise, on an RfA. Things should cool down in a week or three. I will have more free time will give it a go then. Sound OK? Cheers and again thanks! Anger22 16:37, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Alrighty, I'll ask again toward the end of the month =). --Spangineer (háblame) 16:56, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

RE:How are things?

Things are very good, thank you very much. Nice to see I haven't been forgotten completely :P. I've pulled back into being a wiki-gnome for a while, as school and life have awoken from their slumber and are now doing their best to make life hell. Anyway, I'll keep a lookout for your RFA and be sure to give you a full thumbs up for the great Wikipedian you are. I'd also like to give you props for recruiting more disciples to our cause. Cheers, good luck with Barney and TINC, Master of Puppets 03:47, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the support. I am in no rush to leap into an RfA right now. VandalProof and popups are coming in handy right now. I am very busy at work so being able to "one button it" is about all I have time for...other than talking to you...and the odd guitarist project article. Cheers! Anger22 04:02, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
PS: School is more important than Misplaced Pages. Shh I didn't say that. Anger22 04:36, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Buddy Holly & interproject coöperation

Hi, thanks for the heads-up about the Buddy Holly article. I'll try to get to it soon.

On the topic of "inter-project coöperation", I want to say, I'm as much (or as little) a member of the guitarist project as I am the musicians project (and vice versa). But my primary concern is the overall quality of Misplaced Pages--not just musicians or guitarists articles. I think I've addressed your concerns about the musical artist infobox on the guitarist project talk page, but you haven't responded, so I don't know if you have more issues, or if things are fine now. I simply want more inter-article consistency, but I'm willing to be pretty flexible in how it happens. I'm willing to develop a new, alternative infobox just for the guitarists project, if that's what you'd prefer. But at the moment, things are stalled basically on your objections, and I don't know how to move forward without more information on what, precisely, you're objecting to. I understand if you're busy, but I really would like to get more feedback when and if you have a chance. Thanks. Xtifr tälk 18:27, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for taking the time on the Buddy Holly article(pending). I didn't really have time to reflect on the last series of comments on the WPG talk page. I was hoping others would express some thoughts so we could move forward, together...working for one positive goal which is...as you put it..."overall quality of Misplaced Pages". I can't say anymore as to my thoughts on "inter-article consistency" that I haven't already expressed. 3 Beatles have musician boxes...1 has a "G" box. 3 Led Zeppelin members have(or will have) musician boxes....1 has a "G" box etc. Which is, I believe, how it should be. I am certainly for expansion of the current guitarist infobox...MINUS...the colours. Why...already this week it's been expanded to include an image caption....Oooooooo WOW!!!(sarcasm!). It's not much...but right now key project members(incl. myself) are either on Wikibreak...or busy with other Wiki issues so we don't have much input as to on what to to with it next. I, for one wouldn't mind seeing a "other occupations" line in it. Not so much to include other mucial instruments played but more along the lines of producer or film director or...whatever. Jeff "Skunk" Baxter is not only an famous guitarist...he is also an anti-terrorism expert for the US gov. Steve Morse is not just an amazing guitarist...he is also an airline pilot. The current infobox has no place for including that. But maybe it could? Before any further changes are made I would like to wait for Andy, the admin who created the guitarist project, to come back into the fold. He is currently on a much needed Wiki-break due to very important personal issues that, of course, are much more important than this little hobby. Maybe once he returns we can then set a path on what to do next. Cheers and take care....and again...thanks for "Buddy". Anger22 18:50, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Guitarist infobox

Xtifr has left some remarks at the Guitarist infobox discussion and I replied. I have tried to be more clear about some reasons for not integrating the two infoboxes or substituting them en masse; I hope you don't mind that I sort of spoke for you.

Got those practice answers ready for me yet? :) --Aguerriero (talk) 20:11, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

You spoke for me quite eloquently. I didn't realise I was fighting tooth and nail??? I believe it was me who even suggested several notable guitarists(Prince, Oldfield, Jones) who would be suited quite well to the musician box over the guitarist box. I even spoke to Xtifr directly about my thoughts on the Buddy Holly article. It had been tagged as a guitarist project article...but I felt that Buddy, even though it is rare to see him pictured without a Strat in his hands, was better served by the musician box. To me, an article tagged for the guitarist project and given the special/unique guitarist infobox is like an award. You're not just a musician you are not just a guitarist...you are a "notable" guitarist and here is your very own infobox to set you apart from the other musician articles on Misplaced Pages. I personally think that drummers/bassists/keyboardists/kazooists..etc should all have their own projects and, likewise, should all have their own infoboxes too. Something I have been encouraging the regular editors of those types of articles(except the kazoo) to do for quite a while now. And as for my practice answers...I think I am going to put that little adventure on hold...if you don't mind. I know I've told you(and a few other admins who are spurring me to clan up) that I would throw my hat in soon. But right now is just not the time. When I am ready I will let you know. re: uphill battle

Yeah I can look at John Frusciante today. It looks pretty good, I agree that it could be brought up to GA status. Do you have any good sources for getting soundbytes? --Aguerriero (talk) 12:34, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

What's the freeware? :) --Aguerriero (talk) 13:50, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Good grief. I tried to reflect on this during my drive to work this morning. Are we being unreasonable? Do we have valid reasons for not wanting people to use the musicians infobox if it contains the same information? I'm just trying to take a step back and reassess, because frankly I'd rather spend my time writing articles than arguing with those guys about infoboxes. --Aguerriero (talk) 14:27, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
I think you are on the right track. I am no infobox expert, I just like one that is concise and captures the essential facts of the guitarist. I have posted to both our infobox discussion and theirs with the intention of solving this and putting it behind us. I think we could easily transclude the musician infobox and use it - I don't think it will be a big problem to give the option of using no color, and including other optional fields. As a side note, Heaven's Wrath's behavior has been passive aggressive in my opinion, as he has pretty much avoided the entire conversation and continues to tell his members to do whatever they want. I don't think that's helping matters, and I told him as much. --Aguerriero (talk) 14:51, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Dear Snippy22, no worries. Your input is very much valued and appreciated and it looks like everyone in this situation wants to see it resolved peacefully. Heaven's Wrath left me a note as well, expressing his interest in solving the problem. Keep up the great work with the project! --Aguerriero (talk) 04:05, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

re: infobox drum

Pretty spiffy! I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, yes? I am still trying to figure out how to make a soundbyte. I use Linux so my options for software are kind of crappy at times. --Aguerriero (talk) 00:27, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Whole Lotta Page

It is a bit much lately, isn't it?! Maybe the separate list article is the way to go. If you or someone else initiates it, I'll support it. Heck, if I get more time, I might start one myself. :)

So, you've got 3? Which flavors? I'm down to my all time favorite one ('97 Vintage Sunburst Standard). I've certainly loved and lost a few others over the years. You see, I have this addiction to vintage and Custom Shop Strats...um...:)

Regards - talk soon. PJM 16:07, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Yessir...white gloves. Either to symbolize that those licks weren't his... or he wanted to keep his maple board clean. :) PJM 20:03, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
  • That book is on my list. His Ultimate Guitar Book is my fave. I will have some time this weekend...maybe I can get something going as well. Enjoy. PJM 19:58, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Got a question...

How do you join wiki projects Pink Floyd? Do you just sign on the list? --ASDFGHJKL 20:36, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

I put my name on the list but I saw someone was invited so I wasn't sure. Thank you! --ASDFGHJKL 21:50, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Collection

Hey, I love your inventory - great stuff. I also have, or have had at one time, just about everything on your list...except for a Tele. I love the Tele tone, but was never sold on the feel.

I'm also a proud owner of real 60's Strat. It's an all original '64 burst...a total gem. My main slaves these days have been a pair of Custom Shop NOS 1960's (Olympic White and Black).

During my 80's shredder phase, I did the Superstrat thing - Jackson Soloist, Ibanez Ex, etc. I'm glad the classic Strat bug bit me in the 90's - it felt like "going home again"...even though I grew up with Gibsons around the house. Fender and Gibson are generally apples & oranges, to me, but they both have the same timelessness and class. I'm sure you'd agree.

I hear you about the wife bit. My wife is something else; she gets concerned when I buy "another one" and becomes sad if I sell off that very same one. Go figure 'em. :)

I'll help you decide: get the Rick 360 twelever. I can hear it chiming for you now. ;)

Cheers. PJM 01:07, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Timmy12 and MaxReg

I see you have had trouble with their tagging. I have reason to beleive that they may be sockpuppets of Mattisse. Besides myself, other allies in fighting this idiotic tagging include Hanuman Das and Septegram. Let us know what articles you are having trouble with and I at least will put them on my watch list. Would you be willing to watch some other articles being tagged by these users? Ekajati (yakity-yak) 17:56, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

I'll do my best to help out. I've blacklisted both users and will add some of the "usual haunts" to my watchlist. I made a habit out of browsing for Timmy edits every couple of days... I will try to do the same for this new potential/likely sock. Good luck! Anger22 18:15, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Help requested

Hi

I'm writing to you - and others - because you are one of several people who appears to have experienced the same thing as I have noticed and experienced.

Namely a pattern of vandalism by an anonymous user. The IP # is 66.229.10.64

See this user's talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/User_talk:66.229.10.64

This user has been temporarily blocked several times. I notice that the pattern is the same.

The person doesn't seem to respond to polite community requests to engage in dialogue - or to desist from repeatedly making edits that several editors consider to be vandalism.

I am not that experienced in these matters but can there be an attempt made to block this user permanently? Or at least for a period of time so that the person gets a message about respecting the community. Thanks. Davidpatrick 03:09, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Ahhh, the Barney vandal. There are multiple IP's that do basically the same edits to the same articles(plus a few from left field here and there). I notice you've also asked CambridgeBayWeather for help. Whatever response you get from him will hold a lot more weight than what I can suggest. I would suggest asking an admin for help and, well, you just did with him. Good luck! Anger22 03:15, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Invitation

Thank you so much for your kind invitation, but at present I really can't spare the time. Sincerely, Lion King 13:55, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Agree 100%! Take care, Lion King 17:07, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

BTW, one user kept putting that in the article not so long ago! Cheers, Lion King 17:12, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Proper infobox format

You have changed my infobox correction in Ritchie Blackmore article. Could you please give me link to guideline you have followed?

Thanks

Thanks for the reversion of my user page. Happy editing!--MrFish 14:43, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Muchas gracias

Hey Anger22, thanks a lot for supporting me in my recent RfA. It succeeded, and I am very grateful to all of you. If you ever need help with anything, please don't hesitate to ask. Also, feel free point out any mistakes I make! Thanks again, —Khoikhoi 04:49, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Looking for a new userbox?

I just made this one, hehe: User:Aguerriero/Own guitars --Aguerriero (talk) 15:56, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Would you believe that I am considering starting another WikiProject? I must be losing it... --Aguerriero (talk) 04:59, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, I've been discussing with another editor the possibility of starting a project for zoos, aquariums, and aviaries. I don't anticipate much editing work (I still want to devote most of my time to guitarist articles) but I might do the project organization and such. --Aguerriero (talk) 14:27, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
I haven't gauged interest yet - I'm actually in the middle of organizing the list of proposed projects and trying to remove long-standing entries. When that is done, I'll probably post it, and contact people I have noticed editing those articles. I don't see any other WikiProjects with similar scope though - nothing about museums or anything. Of course, it would be my lot in life that someone will create it a few months after I create mine, and start posting that their scope overlaps mine. :) --Aguerriero (talk) 14:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Aw come on, Snippy. We all know that sometimes being snippy is the only way to get things done in this world. Funny you should mention Canada, because that is a possible future destination for my family, depending on where my wife gets accepted into grad school. I should relish the chance to fly into "YYZ" :) --Aguerriero (talk) 15:05, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

She wants to study genetic counseling, and I guess there is a good program at University of Toronto. So, if she gets accepted there, we would be moving near Toronto. Since I am from Michigan, I have been to Toronto dozens of times and I love it (although I've only ever driven or taken the train there, never been to the airport). I've unfortunately only been to places in Canada between Michigan and Buffalo, NY - would love the opportunity to explore the countryside. --Aguerriero (talk) 15:38, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Aggravating, yes. He did grossly misrepresent what you said, but I will also say that no responsible admin would actually take action on something like that without reviewing. Then they would see that you were simply saying, "instead of going around putting tags on 50 articles, why not do one at a time and fix it?" The admin that replied probably replied without even looking at what he was talking about. I will always say though, and would have said to MightyMoose if I had known he was leaving, that it is better to fix such problems from the inside. I sincerely believe in the mission of Misplaced Pages, and as long as I'm able, I will be in here trying to build a 💕. --Aguerriero (talk) 17:41, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
See my ongoing exchange with the editor on his Talk page. Trying to clarify things --Aguerriero (talk) 19:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

My RFA!

Anger22, thank you so much for your support for my RfA. I passed with a vote tally of 61/0/1. I am honored that the consensus was to allow me the added privilege of the admin mop. I appreciate your support on my RFA! --plange 15:38, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Removing unsourced tags from unsourced articles -why?

The articles are not sourced per WP:V policy. Wouldn't it improve the articles and the credibility of Misplaced Pages if they were? Plus you are not reflecting accurately what you are doing in your edit summaries. Maybe you could give me a satisfactory Misplaced Pages rationale why you are doing this? I would appreciate it. Thanks! Mattisse(talk) 15:57, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

If the articles were tagged by regular editors it would make a huge difference because those editors would then follow up on the tag with support from other regular editors to help them. But tagging articles(especially articles marked as Wiki-projects) and then doing absolutely nothing to try and improve the article itself, is not a positive contribution to Misplaced Pages. Perhaps tagging and then maybe sticking around and actually editing would be a better modus operandi. It would produce more support and in the end a positive sharing experience. Tagging and then walking away....is not much better than trolling and doesn't help at all. Anger22 16:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Actually I was planning to add sources as I have written articles on similar subjects {just started one on Casey Bill Weldon because it was red-linked in Memphis Jug Band. I have a great deal of source material on the subject, having been a serious blues fan for many years. I noticed the red-link for Casey Bill Weldon because I was fixing the "bunched up edits" problem on Memphis Jug Band. But it sounds like you are saying there is no purpose for me to be involved and I should just butt out? Mattisse(talk) 16:30, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Tagging 1 at a time would certainly help. And following up with citations....can never be wrong. But tag, tag, tag, tag, tag will not invite participation. Start with B.B. ....he deserves a GA rating and right now it wouldn't take much. Anger22 16:39, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Removing a tag without supplying a source can be considered vandalism, I am told. I am tagging for the improvement of Wikipdeidia, not at all to antagonize you. The tag does not harm the article in any way but rather can inspire others to improve the article which is my goal in the long run. Many articles have been dreamatically improved by the addition of such a tag. Mattisse(talk) 17:49, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Tagging is helpful. Serial tagging is pushing into the realms of WP:POINT. Better to do them 1 at a time and maybe post on the talk page why it's there and ask for assistance to make it go away...1 tag at a time. Anger22 18:03, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

My page is tied up in some king of editing conflict so I am replying here

User:TomTheHand is replying to someone who listed references at the bottom of the article but did not specify inline the body of the article where that particular statement could be verified. Misplaced Pages:Harvard referencing is a citation system. To quote from its Citation section:

Under the Harvard referencing system, a book is cited in the text in parentheses, or round brackets, after the section, sentence, or paragraph for which the book was used as a source, using the surname of the author and the year of publication only, with the parentheses closing before the period, as in (Author 2005). If the same author has published two books in 2005, and both are being referenced in the text, this is written as (Author 2005a) and (Author 2005b). The specific page, section, or division of the cited work can follow the date in this way: (Author 2006, 28).

Newspaper articles may be cited by the byline, as in (Traynor 2005), though this is less commonly done, with most editors preferring to give the name of the newspaper and the date of publication after the sentence (The Guardian, December 17, 2005), or linking to thearticle using an embedded link, like this. Embedded links, like footnotes, are placed after punctuation.

Now, maybe that is what you were doing in Robert Johnson. As I said, I find that ;particular article very difficult to follow. Mattisse(talk) 19:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

The Robert Johnson article, as far as I can see, has an extensive reference section. A Misplaced Pages Administrator has even pointed that out. Articles that are ref'd in such a way do not need to be tagged as uncited because they are very clearly referenced in the appropriate section using the Harvard reference method(which is better than online webpages as far as I'm concerned) Adding specific links/footnotes can be done in later stages of an articles growth (like when it is being peer-reviewed or pushed for GA status) But being tagged as "uncited" is clearly an incorrect use of the tag. Again, these points have been stressed by a Misplaced Pages Administrator so I am not about to argue over removal of a tag that was "in the right". Anger22 22:16, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

I would have rather tagged it as unsourced, but that has been removed twice now. On my talk page User_talk:Aguerriero admitted he was wrong to the admin who stated there that the article was unsourced. Then User_talk:Aguerriero went ahead and removed the tag anyway. So I put the citation tag on because the editors involved seem to think a list of references at the bottom is the same thing as citing sources and it is not per WP:CITE. The article has been there at least since April 2004 and is not sourced. The tag often spurs people into fixing up articles and results in marked article improvement. Mattisse(talk) 22:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

You seem very busy on Misplaced Pages. When will you be finding the time to add all of these inline citations and footnotes? I have over 13000 edits on Misplaced Pages, most of them being vandalism rv's. But I think I can find the time to review that article(and all the other one's you've tagged today) once you have completed your extensive referencing project. I am looking forward to seeing the finished result. Perhaps, upon your completion, a peer review can be done or even a nomination for Good Article status be placed. Good luck! Anger22 23:07, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your good wishes! I ran across the articles in question today as I was adding a link to each one documenting each blues artist's induction into the 1980 Blues Foundation's Hall of Fame. If I did reverting like you do, I really would get into trouble so I don't dare do that except in cases of clear vandalism. I truly want Misplaced Pages to be good, but I find just writing articles the best way to stay out of trouble. But when writing articles, I always start with the sources first. I won't write an article if I don't have the sources lined up. And I won't dare try to "improve" any of the articles in question today! (Can you imagine what would happen if I tried that?) It's very tricky "improving" articles because it might anger someone, and then bad things happen. Thanks again for you good wishes! Mattisse(talk) 23:41, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

And so, right back to where we were at the start of the day, you are tagging the articles and then walking away and leaving them unfinished. How is that an improvment? Is there any kind of satisfaction to these meaningless edits? It seems to be an awful lot of time dedicated to accomplishing nothing. Anger22 00:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

No, I don't as a rule tag articles and just walk away. How uncivil and rude of you to generalize in such a manner. Why are you insulting me? Where is your evidence for your accusing me of such behavior? Mattisse(talk) 02:05, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
