The Megatrend University of Applied Sciences (Serbian: Мегатренд универзитет примењених наука) is a university located in Belgrade, Serbia. It was founded in 1989 and is organized into 19 institutions.
History and profile
The very first institute of the system was the Belgrade`s Megatrend Business School which was established 1989, and latter on was the founder of all other institutes which make the present Megatrend University of Applied Sciences.
During 1991, Megatrend Business School, together with the Technical Faculty of Bor carried out the project of management graduate studies introduction. This project which was the first one of this type in South-East Europe, was financially supported by the European Union TEMPUS Fund which was specifically intended for the development of business education. This success has caused further expanding of Megatrend educational network.
In the previous educational system, institutes were missing that could provide the similar kind of knowledge, so, the establishment of our new faculties was accepted with great interest. Most notable is the Faculty of Geo-economy the first institute of this kind in this part of the world.
Megatrend University claim that students have the opportunity to be taught, using the most recent literature, by the world-wide recognized lecturers and instructors.
As a result, these students have gained the knowledge which helped them a lot at the start of their careers, of course, in areas of business and economy. Quite a lot of them are now recognized experts and represent the best guarantee of Megatrend University qualities.
In February 1997, Megatrend Business School has stipulated the agreement of collaboration with L`Ecole Superieure de Commerce from Grenoble, France. This agreement allowed students to be transfered directly from each of the schools - members of our university to the corresponding school in France, then, it made possible to interchange the students during their studies, as well as to make it possible for them to continue the studies at a postgraduate or doctor of sciences levels.
Similar agreements were stipulated with "Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli" from Italy, with Berlin University of Applied Sciences from Germany, then, with Yanbian University of Science and Technology from China, Bournemouth University from United Kingdom, Academy Eliteâ from Moscow, European School of Business, Rome, Italy and Faculty of Economics, Donetsk National University, Ukraine.
In autumn 1999, Megatrend University of Applied Sciences has become the authentic and valid member of global university network NEWS (North-East-West-South), whose members are the universities from all over the world. Also, all institutes of Megatrend University are the members of EAMSA (Euro-Asia Management Studies Association), the sole international association for management studies.
Megatrend claims that they observe and respect new technologies, information systems` development and new methods of gaining and applying knowledge. Its own programs are regularly adapted to the new trends and the education is continually developed so to obtain the optimal preparation of students for their future careers.
