As my background is in the humanities (apart from a slight overlap which some of my linguistics courses had with sociology), and as two modules for my doctorate require some background in the social sciences, I am reducing my Misplaced Pages activity until I feel I have an adequate knowledge and understanding of epistemology, ontology, objectivism, constructionism, subjectivism, symbolic interactionism, phenomenology, interpretivism, positivism, postpositivism, structuralism, poststructuralism, ethnography, grounded theory, action research, quantitative methods, qualitative methods, and much, much more.
