Ms. Fake is in the following categories:

  • Businesspeople from California
  • Businesspeople from New York City
  • Businesspeople from Pennsylvania
  • Businesspeople from Vancouver

Typically you're only "from" one place: where you grew up. It feels disingenuous, or at least irrelevant, to list someone as being from every location they worked at for a time. I don't believe these categories were intended to work that way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dgpop (talkcontribs) 04:24, 4 December 2015

Hi @Dgpop: The purpose of Categories: at the bottom of an article’s page is to provide links to other articles on Misplaced Pages on similar topics. This can help both readers who are interested enough and who have read the whole article from top to bottom, and editors who may be looking to see how other similar articles are written/organized. It is also very useful for those trying to verify certain aspects of articles or topics. So when you see that Caterina Fake lived in several locations, you may be curious to find out more about those locations and people who live/lived there, for example. Am I making sense?
As far as Typically you're only "from" one place that is probably true for the vast majority of people, but not necessarily true for some. Misplaced Pages is global and tries, I think, to be inclusive. Ottawahitech (talk) 00:34, 5 December 2015 (UTC)please ping me
Thank you for the clarification. If "Businesspeople from California" really means "Businesspeople who at some point lived in California," then I disagree with that definition, but I'll drop the issue. Are there examples of other people where every state or country they've lived is listed as a "from" category?Dgpop (talk) 16:53, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
