No criticism?

It seems like a lot of people dislike job as CEO and President of Yahoo!, but the article mentions no criticism or controversy. --Romulan Ale (talk) 02:28, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

It mentions that "Mayer was consequently criticised for the telecommuting ban". Is there anything else specific you feel should be mentioned, that's been covered widely in the press? --McGeddon (talk) 08:32, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
Thousands, probably millions, of Yahoo! users are unhappy with an enormous number of (non-optional) changes that her administration added to services like Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Groups. Unfortunately, it would take a great deal of time to fairly assess and document all the pro's and con's. But right now, this whole thing looks like something that came out of her press office or an annual report rather than a Misplaced Pages article. Even if you're a huge enthusiast and supporter of Ms. Mayer, this is counter-productive since readers would be deterred by the style and apparent bias from learning about and considering her positive achievements and policies. —— Shakescene (talk) 17:58, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Can you please expand on this ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Coireferenceswiki (talkcontribs) 22:36, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Sarcasm? Spam?

"During high school, she worked as a grocery clerk, where she memorized the number codes for produce items to streamline the checkout process. "

Is the second half of that sentence a joke? I don't see it contributing to this article. Memorization streamlines almost every kind of job.

I'd also suggest that this other sentence from the same reference could be `fluff` unfit for Misplaced Pages and warranting of removal:

"At an early age, she showed an interest in math and science." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.84.148.0 (talk) 17:07, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

I also noticed that and found it a bit odd, almost pandering. I don't see any reason why those trivial details should clutter the article. It's like saying "So-and-so aspired to do good in school and worked hard".. it's just silly. The sources cited in those examples are from a Bio. article published by A&E Television Networks (50.53.159.101 (talk) 09:24, 27 July 2016 (UTC))

Computer scientist

I have a M.S. degree in computer science. I am not a computer scientist, because I have not published. Has Mayer? 24.7.14.87 (talk) 02:31, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

"Early Life" - Second Paragraph

In the second paragraph describing Mayer’s early life and education, it goes on about her participation on the curling team and precision dance team. It even goes on to discuss other details about how she was a grocery clerk and ‘memorized the number codes for produce items to streamline the checkout process’. This information comes across as irrelevant to her career, seems to come from a personal connection, and should be removed from her page. For reference of what would be considered relevant information to be included in this section, refer to the page on Kathleen Antonelli.

https://en.wikipedia.org/Kathleen_Antonelli

On Kathleen Antonelli's page, it describes how she excelled in certain subjects that pertained to how she advanced in her career. There isn't information regarding her extracurricular activities that don't provide important information to how she became a women in computing.

Early Life

In the section about her education and early life a statement is made that Mayer was “painfully shy” as if the author knew Mayer directly. This quote came from a Business Insider interview where she was asked many questions about her personal life. Mayer said she was painfully shy herself. I think it should say: “As a child Mayer considered herself painfully shy"

https://web.archive.org/web/20130825204024/http://www.businessinsider.com/marissa-mayer-biography-2013-8.

It should be correctly relayed from the interview, stating that she said it herself if it is included on this page. Jenna hyppa (talk) 18:01, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
