South Korea (Han-guk, in Han'geul: 한국; in Hanja: 韓國), officially known as the Republic of Korea (Daehan Min'guk, in Han'geul: 대한민국; in Hanja: 大韓民國). The southern half of Korea; see Korea for pre-war history and common characteristics such as language.
