help!
I accidentally blanked half the Robin Hood article. I know you fixed it when I did this to the Star Wars article. Can you tell me how to fix it? Thank you.

re: Unicornscan article deletion
I noticed that you have deleted the Unicornscan. Could you please point me to some justification of this?
Continuing the discussion...
On your talk page this time. You stated: "your current vote likely will confuse the hell out of a lot of users..." How many users who voted support actually understand the C# code TawkerBotTorA is written in ? Jcam
Retrieval
Would it be possible to retrieve the article somehow? I couldn't figure that out from the deletion history. Thanks
no offence
Are you a wiki freak???!?!? Your making me scared!
NO OFENCE!
Re: TB2
I'm still interested in obtaining the code. What needs to be done? --Xoid 04:00, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Thank you
Thank you for your input on my RfA last month. In a few months after I graduate, I'll have time to "prepare," (I won't be on Wikibreak next time) and visit xFD everyday. I had planned on nominating myself in late spring, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to accept a nomination. Do you have any tips or suggestions for me? Thanks again, X (SUPERDESK|Help me improve) 07:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Today's featured article
Just wanted to let you know a featured article you worked on, 0.999..., was featured today on the Main Page. Tobacman 00:38, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

User:HailHitler
Why did you block him? It isn't a Username vio. True, Hitler was a horrible person, but just because you think so or because alot of people who speak English think so, doesn't mean he should be blocked. If you ask me, I think the block is pretty biased.--KojiDude 02:19, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Koji, it was a clear vandal account with a name designed to be offensive. If it makes you feel any better, I was about to block it and he beat me to the block. JoshuaZ 02:23, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that the username was meant to be offensive and inflammatory. While assuming good faith is an asset, I do not believe that particular username was chosen with good intentions. -→Buchanan-Hermit™/?! 02:26, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- If it was a vandalism account, then the block log should state that's the reason for blocking. I'm not trying to start a big long discussion, but if somone signed up with the name "Hail Bush", I don't think he'd be indef'd.--KojiDude 02:32, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, they likely would, at least I'd block that -- Tawker 02:33, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed. Although in that case the word "hail" has something to do with it (never mind the mispellings). Hitler, Stalin, Jack the Ripper are such obviously disruptive names that they can be blocked as username issues on sight regardless of whether there is a POV to this or not. I have no issue making "biased" blocks based on what is common among Western culture. If this were another language encyclopedia, what the relevant names might be might change but there is no fundamental issue with having "biased" username rules. Userspace is not subject to NPOV among other issues. JoshuaZ 02:41, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Elonka
Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Unfortunately consensus was not reached, and the nomination was not successful. However, I do appreciate that you took the time to comment, as I find it a valuable thing to understand how I am perceived by others in the Misplaced Pages community. If there is anything that I can do in the future to help further address your concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. --Elonka 09:01, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
RfA thanks
Please accept my thanks for your support in my successful RfA, which I was gratified to learn passed without opposition on October 25, 2006. I am looking forward to serving as an administrator and hope that I prove worthy of your trust. With my best wishes, --MCB 06:34, 26 October 2006 (UTC) |
Tawkerbot2 clones vs. Mathbot
The TB2 clones seem to have been reverting Mathbot quite a lot; check the history of User talk:Mathbot. Is it possible for User:Mathbot to be whitelisted across all TB2-style bots? --ais523 12:48, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- The other bots shouldn't be running now... which bot is doing it... -- Tawker 13:23, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Mostly it's User:AntiVandalBot, but User:Tawkerbot2 has been involved as well. They're not reverting every change of Mathbot, just a few. --ais523 16:59, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for supporting my RfA
Thank you for supporting my RfA that I have passed with 73/2/1.--Jusjih 09:27, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
You're late
You were pretty late welcoming me here to Misplaced Pages I've been here for about one and a half monthes, so I had to learn everything about this place on my own (your help would have been nice though, a whole lot less of stress would have been awsome). Just thought I should tell you.Sam ov the blue sand 01:52, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Nathan Rosenberg deletion
Can you clarify the situation regarding the summary disappearance of the Nathan Rosenberg article?
The deletion log ] indicates that you deleted it at 20:23 last night, but your contribs list shows no corresponding entry.
There also appears to have been no due process leading to this deletion? DaveApter 09:47, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Speedy delete A7 - notability not established... someone on IRC asked me if I thought it was notable and looking at the article... well, I think you have my answer. We often delete stuff w/o editing the page, it saves on disk space just a tad - any deleted edits are gone from contribs lists anyways - now for me to find some caffeine -- Tawker 14:10, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't really disagree with you. I was just puzzled to notice that the link had gone red suddenly. While you are about it, what do you think of these? -- Harry Rosenberg, Joan Rosenberg, Art Schreiber, Steven Zaffron, Nancy Zapolski, Brian Regnier, Laurel Scheaf, Jerry Joiner ?
bot advice
Could you suggest a bot, that could accomplish the task mentioned at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Germany#Please_check_for_wrong_umlauts? Agathoclea 20:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Congrats
I hereby award Tawker the da Vinci Barnstar for all his hard work on Tawkerbot and his clones, the best troops in the fight against vandalism. --NauticaShades 07:43, 29 October 2006 (UTC)AOL reverter vandal
For the past couple days, I've been dealing with a rather annoying gent from AOL (there's a couple wide-spaced IP ranges, but sadly they're all cache proxies) who goes around reverting User:Hu12's contributions with the edit summary "REVERT HU12 SPAM IT WILL NOT STOP UNTILL YOU DO". Now, I don't know the capabilities of the various bots, so I can't tell if AVB or TB2 can watch for this sort of thing, of it possibly I should ask VoA to deal with it with his, but I'd really appreciate it if you got back with me. Thanks! ~Kylu (u|t) 14:28, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Vandalbot mistake
Hello! The vandalbot tagged me as a vandal by mistake; I think that it may be because I forgot to sign a comment on WP:AIV but other than that I am pretty sure that I am not a vandal! (aeropagitica) 20:45, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Benton Academy
Why was this deleted???
I did not have time to add the hangon tag to this page after it was marked. I had made links from the Benton, Mississippi page (the reference was there, I just added link capability. I was also referenced under [[List of high schools in Mississippi ]]. Again I just added the link ability. I seem to remember two links being a qualifying parameter. I also have about 200 words of text to be added. There are several additional schools in the same catagory listed on Misplaced Pages indluding Trinity Episcopal Day School, Southaven High School, Jim Hill High School and several others.
Esperanza Admin coaching - October 29
As far as I can see you are not currently assigned as a coach to anyone at Admin coaching. Are OK to receive a new trainee? Thank you for helping with admin coaching! Highway 22:11, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Flutterbloom
Why was the Flutterbloom article I made deleted? Did I miss something? The first time I made an accidentical copy of the lexicon but the second time I made sure it wasn't a copy (as far as I could tell. Randfan 22:19, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- It was deleted per notability concerns - please take a read there -- Tawker 22:21, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Iron-on (Band)
Dude, I created this article, saw it was a candidate for deletion, added proof as to why it shouldn't be deleted... and it was deleted anyway! Ridiculous, but why?! Slickshoes3234 23:50, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Take a look @ WP:MUSIC - I didn't see notability according to those criteria. The google test wasn't showing a lot and Plus One seems to be a very minor label -- Tawker 00:01, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
How AntiVandalBot recognizes vandalism
Hello. I've been using Misplaced Pages for some time now and I've noticed a lot of difference bots in my time but I was wondering how AVB can tell the difference between regular edits and blatant vandalism. I have no idea how bots function and have no intention of creating a bot in the future, but I'm just curious how he can tell the difference betwen the two. Thanks.
P.S. - Please reply here and congradulations on all of the awards, your adminship, and all of your hard work here at Misplaced Pages. Keep it up! // Sasuke-kun27 02:10, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- I did not program the bots, but have been watching and interacting with them for quite a while. I was also given a summary of the then-list of criteria quite a few months back. Basically the bot(s) watch all edits, and parse every one through a set of checks. If the bot matches any of the current criteria, and does not meet any of a number of white-listing criteria, then it is considered a vandalism, and is handled as such. Amoung the white-listing is a list of all admins. The bots are not supposed to revert admins in general. As for the vandalism criteria, I'd rather not say. In general we do not want the information publically out there. But I will give one common example. Page blanking. Blank out a page, and the bot is very likely to flag the edit as vandalism. In general, watch the things that the bot reverts. Each revert triggered at least one vandalism criteria. So look at a revert, at what was done and what was reverted, and think about what it is about that specific edit that the bot could have triggered on. - TexasAndroid 14:17, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Pretty much, it's now a bot, we moved it to the toolserver and it speeds up things a fair bit. Right now it checks (or is supposed to) all IP edits, all "new" account edits and thats about it. Pretty much it's blatantly obvious things (etc) that get the vandalism, there are a few other things which I don't really want to tip off the vandals in a public channel. Feel free to email me though :) -- Tawker 18:25, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I can see why you'd want to have a private chat when it comes to these kind of things ^_^. I'll be using my mom's e-mail address (unless I make my own after school) but I won't be able to get to you until at least 3:30 PM eastern time tomorrow. Thanks. // Sasuke-kun27 02:01, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Are you a bot - response
How are you able to test AVB? I thought that it finds vandalism in a semi-random manner since it can't check every single article at once. Anyway the only reason I caught it fast was because I was repeatedly checking my watchlist back then. Gdo01 19:28, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
