Child's Play is an upcoming horror film written by Tyler Burton Smith and directed by Lars Klevberg. It is a reboot of the 1988 film of the same name and serves as the eight installment in the Child's Play franchise. It stars Brian Tyree Henry, Aubrey Plaza, and Gabriel Bateman.
By July 2018, Collider reported that a modern-day version of Child's Play, a reboot, is in development at MGM, with Polaroid filmmaker Lars Klevberg directing it, Tyler Burton Smith writing the script, and Seth Grahame-Smith and Katzenberg producing it.
Principal photography began in September 2018 in Vancouver.

- Aubrey Plaza as Karen Barclay, the mother of Andy and one of the film's main protagonists.
- Brian Tyree Henry as Detective Mike Norris, a detective investigating mysterious murders and one of the film's main protagonists.

Production
Development
In July 2018, Collider reported that a modern-day version of Child's Play, a reboot, is in development at MGM without the involvement of Don Mancini or David Kirschner. Lars Klevberg will direct the film, with a script from Tyler Burton Smith (of Polaroid and Quantum Break fame, respectively). David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith will serve as producers, after previously co-producing It feature film adaptation.
Casting
In September, Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman were cast and filming beginning in Vancouver.
