Regarding the banned account of User:Doedoeneoneo

Hi PamD, I am a Taiwanese Wikimedian and I want to let you know that I met User:Doedoeneoneo in person on August. I then want to come to help her clear some concerns from the English community. I have investigated and written here regarding the community's concern. Please feel free to participate. Thank you in advance. --Liang (WMTW) (talk) 02:23, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

Adel/adoul

Dear Pam thank you for removing my addition to the disambiguation page Adel/adoul. The creation of a separate page for this entry appears to me to be overkill, especially as there are so few English-language references to Adel/Adoul. Basically what you are saying is that no entries may be made on a disambiguation page unless there is a pre-existing wikipedia page for the lemma. This appears to me to be somewhat perverse, especially as it does not correspond to my own experience of Misplaced Pages. May I suggest you are being slightly over-zealous? Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 16:28, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

@Augusta2: Yes, that's what I'm saying: see WP:DAB and WP:MOSDAB. Everything in a disambiguation page should be a link to a wikipedia page or a section in one, where the reader can find out about the topic mentioned. Disambiguation pages do not contain information and references. I'm curious about your experience of Misplaced Pages which contradicts this - could you show me the disambiguation page entries you're thinking of? PamD 18:05, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
@Augusta2: Thanks for creating a well-sourced stub at Adel (official). Looks good. I've tidied up both it and the dab page entry. But neither of your sources used the term "Adel". Have you got a source for that? Otherwise perhaps the article needs to be at Adoul? We need a redirect from that term anyway - will do it when not on phone. PamD 06:03, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Yes it's confusing. As you will know from user page I work as a translator. Adel is the word used in official translations in Morocco. It is of course a transcription of an Arabic word. There are many variations it seems, including adl, adil, adoul. Wiktionary say Adoul is the plural of Adel/Adil. I think there is considerable confusion. Let us keep it at Adel for the time being please because of the correspondence with the Arabic name meaning "just/honest". Now that the article is up and once I've linked to the corresponding French page, it may well be that other more expert persons will suggest amendments rooted in a greater familiarity with the term. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 13:10, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Further to the above I've tried linking to the French wiki page "Droit musulman", in which the term "adel" appears, but there is a message I don't understand concerning Sharia that prevents the link being established and tells me to link to another page! Can you help perhaps? Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 13:22, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
The French wikipedia article fr:Adel includes the redirect fr:Adel (droit) which leads to fr:Droit musulman which someone has decide is the equivalent of the English Misplaced Pages's Sources of sharia. I don't think we can link this new English Adel (official) to anything in French Misplaced Pages as the linking only applies to whole articles, not sections.
It would be great if you could find an online document using the "official translation" as you mention, to establish the term "Adel" as the English term: at present neither of your sources mention it, and I've found a source which shows both words being used, but in French only. A Google News search on "Adel Morocco -Football" didn't find anything useful in the first 15 pages! Please add something to show that "Adel" is used in English. The French article asserts "L'adel (pluriel en arabe : adoul) est le notaire de droit musulman", but its source uses "Adoul" and "Adouls", so doesn't help. Thanks, PamD 14:39, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Found a reference in Moroccan consular advice in English to Adel functions. This is now ref. 4. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 15:49, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Trataka (film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ACP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

Big thanks for coming on board so quickly. I knew we needed to have an article before Radio 4 picked up the story- BLPs and Women in Red are not my usual territory.--ClemRutter (talk) 12:01, 13 October 2018 (UTC)

@ClemRutter: I picked her up as a mal-sorted stub in Category:Stubs, and one about a woman (my priority criteria for stub-sorting, as well as the letter "P") - and heard about her on R4 later. Glad to help. PamD 14:38, 13 October 2018 (UTC)

Project updates
  • ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
  • There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.
