Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian connected with Rice University. The Misplaced Pages Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Misplaced Pages assignments at another Houston school, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Misplaced Pages-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Misplaced Pages skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
If you live in Houston and you are interested in being a Misplaced Pages Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:36, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Xiaomi Tech
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Xiaomi Tech requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Pesky (talk …stalk!) 08:08, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Calligraphy articles
Hi, I think you're somewhat missing the point here. There are two quite clearly distinct topics, both covered by a substantial literature, so there is no doubt at all that both of them could be written up at book length or more. That is all that is required for two articles to exist. We hope that editors with suitable knowledge will take the time to improve the articles; meanwhile, what we have written is correct, and indicates there is room for more. There is no future at all in attempting to merge the topics. Chiswick Chap (talk) 20:12, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Non-stop flight
Hi! You reverted my edit about Air India flight. You said "this is not the longest non-stop /route/". As I understand from the article (which was also published in authoritative The Telegraph) the distance flown is calculated along the great circle, though trans-Pacific route is not the shorter part of the great circle between Delhi and San Francisco, but the longer one. Nevertheless the distance flown is the longest one, and return flight let you make round-the-world journey, so don't you think it's worth mentioning in the article? The name of this article has been the subject of discussion on its talk page, ending in October 2012. It was moved to "Phone connector (audio)" as a result of consensus. Why did you take it upon yourself to move it without discussion? Jeh (talk) 02:59, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages.
When editing Misplaced Pages, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
- User contributions
- Recent changes
- Watchlists
- Revision differences
- IRC channels
- Related changes
- New pages list
- Article editing history
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Dawnseeker2000 15:04, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
The potential of an Everipedia article
Hello my friend. I just checked into it to see. These links tell a tale:
- https://everipedia.org/Donald%20Trump/advanced_edit/history/
- https://everipedia.org/Matt%20Damon/advanced_edit/history/
- https://everipedia.org/Pizza/advanced_edit/history/
It looks like it never took off. The attraction was supposed to be how it would differ from Misplaced Pages. Alas, it seems few people helped the articles diverge. People may have visited it for a while, but that has trailed off. Considering Alexa, it appears that it is a failed experiment and is unlikely to attract new media coverage. I doubt it will ever be notable.
Just thought I'd drop by with the links so you can make your own decision. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:01, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Sword Art Online
On 7 April 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sword Art Online, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Reki Kawahara, author of the successful Sword Art Online, planned to submit the draft for the light novel series to a 2002 competition, but refrained because it exceeded the page limit? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sword Art Online. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Sword Art Online), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Help request for mapping section titles
Hi. We (the Research Team at Wikimedia Foundation) are building an algorithm that will align Misplaced Pages article sections across languages. For improving this algorithm we need the help of multilingual Misplaced Pages editors to provide true statements to the algorithm. You are contacted because based on your Babel template and/or content translation tool usage you know at least two of the following languages: ar (Arabic), fr (French), ja (Japanese), en (English), es (Spanish), ru (Russian).
(Note: by clicking the links in the following paragraph, you will be taken to Google spreadsheet.) If you'd like to help us with translating a subset of the section titles on or before 2018-05-06, please read and follow the instructions. If you see instructions in another language, please scroll down to find your preferred language. If you have questions about this message, you can contact us via Diego. File:Opening Ceremony of a re-education camp in Lopnur County.jpg
Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Misplaced Pages non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Misplaced Pages talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:15, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
Help request for uploading a photo
Hello @C933103:, thanks a lot for your photo File:Opening Ceremony of a re-education camp in Lopnur County.jpg. I feel the 6th photo Here can show the inside view of Xinjiang reeducation camps. But I found this photo in other places likeHere, HereandHere, could you please upload this photo in a correct way? - @C933103:, thanks for your photo File:Xinjiang Re-education Camp Lopnur County.jpg. The county name here should be Lop County, Lopnur and Lop are different counties in Xinjiang, so does it possible to change the county's name in the image to Lop County? Furthermore, it is better we upload this photo for public use, it also can be used in other language wiki pages.--KAAN777 (talk) 10:01, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
- @KAAN777: I have added the request rename template onto the file description page, it will be renamed once someone with required right come across and process the image. And then, because the image is copyrighted, it is impossible to upload them onto wikimedia commons directly under the current system due to legality reason. If you want to use the image on other wikis, then you should check those wikis' rule on fair use copyrighted image, and if they allow such practice, adhere to those guidelines strictly. Generally speaking, you can try to look at those templates I used to upload the image onto English Misplaced Pages, find the foreign language version of those templates on foreign language wikis, and then fill in the templates according to instruction using description of the file I uploaded as example when uploading the media onto those foreign wiki. Remember to upload to the "local" wiki site instead of the "commons" for these fair use copyrighted media. Also, note that there should be at little as possible images of this nature on each Misplaced Pages article. See also Misplaced Pages:Non-free_content. C933103 (talk) 10:25, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
Alert
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have recently shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Panasonic P-02C moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Panasonic P-02C, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Misplaced Pages). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Misplaced Pages's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Misplaced Pages. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.
General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here.
