General sanctions alert

Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Misplaced Pages. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Greenwald

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Glenn Greenwald shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

As explained in my edit summary restoring this text, the sources are sufficient and policy-compliant for this article content. If you wish to add attribution or additional RS discussion of this material, that would be constructive. However blanket reverts are not. Use the talk page to air your concerns. Thanks. I have responded on the relevant talk page. Thanks! Jtbobwaysf (talk) 16:06, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 14

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dash (cryptocurrency), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Monero (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:09, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

Satoshi Nakamoto

I have reverted your changes to Satoshi Nakamoto#Craig Wright. In your edit labelled a "trim" you have completely removed one side of the argument for Wright as being Nakamoto and provide a subjective view that he is not. Please revise your trim and provide a more objective contribution to the article. Fanta206 (talk) 01:34, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

September 2018

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Misplaced Pages! However, you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to Oxo Biodegradable. Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained. Often, a live substitute link can be found. Links not used as references, notes or citations are not as important, such as those listed in the "External links" or "Further reading" sections, but bad links in those sections should also be fixed if possible. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Ost (talk) 16:47, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

@Ost316: I did also take a look at archive.org and couldn't find a record for it. Jtbobwaysf (talk) 16:58, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for doing legwork to look for the archive, but even if an archive can't be found, WP:DEADREF prescribes the correct approach is to leave the dead link; it is still the reference for the content, even if it cannot be actively visited. Moreover, archive.org is not the only archive site; archive.is and WebCitation are other popular archives. To automatically search these archives and insert archives when found, the "Fix dead links" on the History pages can be used to invoke the User:InternetArchiveBot. —Ost (talk) 19:53, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
@Ost316: Ok, I will do as you suggested next time. Thanks for the suggestion on the internet archive bot, I had never tried that before. In this link's case it also didn't pickup the issue, as the dead link is working as a re-direct to the parent url of the source. Thus I guess the tool doesn't catch it. In this case I guess a dead ref tag would be ok too right? Thanks again! Jtbobwaysf (talk) 07:47, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I think the dead ref tag would be appropriate. Many of the citation template also include a parameter to flag the as link being dead, which you will see the bot set when it can't find an archive for a dead link. I've also found redirects to troublesome at times, either in the archives or with the tools, though hopefully with time that will improve. Happy editing, Ost (talk) 13:55, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Bitmain article edits

Hey Jtbpbwaysf. Thank you for those edits on the Bitmain article. I'm pretty new to the wikipedia community and I hope I didn't create too much of a mess on that page. Would you mind looking at the products/services section on my draft version in my sandbox rn? https://en.wikipedia.org/User:YiwenDong191919/Draft:Bitmain?wteswitched=1#Products/Services I'm thinking of pasting that section to main space soon. I'think I'll have to expand on the initial sections regarding the products they make. I'm also going to be adding info about their new S9i/j stuff maybe. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. YiwenDong191919 (talk) 06:03, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

Imelda Marcos

For a self-professed Misplaced Pages Inclusionist, you sure are deleting a lot of stuff! ;) That is all. -Object404 (talk) 18:28, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Indeed. Maybe you can infer something about the quality of the content from that... Jtbobwaysf (talk) 18:36, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
