VP Page

Hi Sudharsansn, Let me know whats your plan of action. I guess there is a lot to be done. It would certainly be a good idea to protect the page, but that would also prevent anyone from editing except through the admins. Elalan 02:59, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

vandalism

However bad you may think the Velupillai Prabhakaran article is, sticking a speedy delete tag on it is not the right approach. It makes you the vandal and is liable to get you blocked. -- RHaworth 01:29, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Dear Roger, you might want to go through the history of that page to understand what I literally mean, when I say 'vandalism'. Pls refer to Velupillai Prabhakaran, the talk page and the article history and also the points being made there.
While every effort is being made to ensure that the other version stays as it is, why is effort to balance this article, inspite of several edits being negated due to mass reverts? That's my whole point!! Why is a pro-Sinhala mafia thwarting every attempt to balance this article, inspite of several cited reasons behind Alred Durairaj, Child killer mentions, it always reverts back to the original Anti-Tamil, Pro-Sinhala version. I put up the vandalized tag to clearly suggest that every effort made to ensure NPOV is being negated. Any suggestions??
What do you think should be done about that article. Thanks for your mention Sudharsansn 02:02, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Just a Suggestion

I've looked at some of your comments on LTTE related pages, and though I could not agree more with your overall message that there are some Pro-Sinhala and obviously biased statements in those pages, your posts in the talk pages are very emotional and border on all out flaming of that certain group. So just a suggestion that you might want to reframe from calling them names because it depreciates your solid arguements about the article Thanks Mate --Sharz 08:35, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to the India project

Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of India.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Misplaced Pages.
  • Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Ganeshk (talk) 02:23, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Tamilnet

You might want to see what is happening at the Tamilnet page. Your suggestions with regards to this content dispute would be helpful. Elalan 18:15, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

I have gone through and added citation need facts for anything that I felt needed a citation on the VP page. You might want to look at that as well. Already there is an effort to stop with some Mickey Mouse reasoning. Elalan 21:59, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Velupillai Prabhakaran

As you can tell, I'm willing to go through with a hacket and cut it all out if necessary. I removed that whole sociological study that was the "cult of personality" section and will try to hack the rest down into a reasonable article. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 23:34, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Sri lankan WikiProject

Hi Sudharsan, I got your e-mail. For information on creating a project, Guide to WikiProject organization would really help. I would suggest you start WikiProject Sri lanka, and go from there. You can copy-paste the wiki-code from the WikiProject India. There is a need for geographic projects such as this. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 23:56, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Sudharsansn, you will be suprised that I don't use any one of the instant messenger/icq type software. Nevertheless I would like to give you my email address but not make it public. Since anything written here is available to anyone to access. So how about we meet on a wikipedia irc channel and I we will exchange details there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Elalan (talkcontribs) .

WikiProject_NCSLC

I am not sure about this. I think this kind of project would divide editors on regional lines. WikiProject Sri lanka would have been a more neutral project that would cover all kinds of topics, geography, history etc, not just focus on the ethnic conflict. Please comment on my talk page. I check my messages here every day. - Ganeshk (talk) 02:57, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Sudharsansn, I wanted to encourage you in your efforts to start the wiki project and you work on the VP page is already making a remarkable step forward. For most current and former people from Ceylon, it is the ethnic conflict that has largely dominated their lives for the better or worse and is the prime focus of attention. A campaign of misinformation and vandalism that has been going on has to be neutralized and exposed. We have to stand for facts period. Any news source or outlet that has been unaffected by the current press censorships moves in Sri Lanka on the ground is the target of attacks and lopsided arguments here in wikipedia. I do have to wonder if these attacks are more organized and coordinated effort of establishment entities. Elalan 04:43, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Btw, I'll be glad to join the project. How do I go about doing it. :) Elalan 04:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

I would call it Misplaced Pages:WikiProject_Sri_lankan_ethnic_conflict. The best would be to put it as Misplaced Pages:WikiProject_Sri_lanka/Ethnic conflict, as a task force/work-group. In the end the name does not matter, as long as you have interested participants. Did you check out the newly created Misplaced Pages:Sri Lankan Wikipedians' notice board. All the best! - Ganeshk (talk) 00:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Those you reported in the WP:NPA were the resons for our the User Iwazaki to be warned already. Because the action has been already taken, there is no need to report it again. Till, if the personal attack attitude of the user is not changed, (The diffs you provide should be after the time the warning was issued), you may report again in the same notice board. I think User:Iwazaki is our fellow wikipedian and we have to forgive and forget his mistakes and make our minds to work together in peace. --∞Sechzehn1611:26, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Tamilnet

You might want to take a look at the Tamilnet article. I am attempting to cleanup some of the discrepancies within the article. Elalan 06:19, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Velupillai Prabhakaran article

Sudharsansn, when I said you had put a lot of work into the article, I really didn't mean that in a bad way. I 'll try to go thru the article soon and tell you what I think.
And by the way, not bad Sinhalese:-) --snowolfD4 23:56, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Tamilnet Again

I have cc'ed this to two admins (just wanted to keep you in the loop).

User snowolfd4 has come up with new ambiguous reasons to remove relevant content from the Tamilnet article as he did for the Vellupillai article:

Here is his justification:

Sudharsansn the reasons are given in the edit summery. Thats not vandalism. Get your facts straight. Practically everything I removed is irrelevant to the context of the article. The international news organizations don't say sympathetic to LTTE website. Its plain pro LTTE website. That means they support the LTTE. Plain English. Not sympathetic. Support. And stuff like

David Jeyaraj a Canada based freelance journalist known for his neutral stance in the current Sri Lankan civil war had written that Karuna, was personally involved in the murder of famed journalist Taraki Sivaram

is just not encyclopedic and doesn't belon in WP. So again I'm removing irrelevant content and restoring my previous version. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 04:16, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

He claims David Jeyaraj's statement (with reference) is unencylopedic, so thats he decides to remove it completely. He also insists on mentioning the LTTE with the list of countries banned in detail. He also insists on saying the website supports the LTTE, which is legally vague. Material support, financial support ?? The best word as far as I see it is that it is sympathetic to the the LTTE. Furthermore he blanks many other statements, with relevant citations without even discussing it. Elalan 05:33, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Thileepan

Hey There, I really need some help with the Lt Colonal Thileepan page, especially concerning his early life as a student etc. Thought you might have some background infomation on that.

Thanks --Sharz 23:35, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Ilaiyaraaja

Hi. Could you please read through the Ilaiyaraaja Misplaced Pages article and provide comments? (please provide comments at http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Peer_review#Ilaiyaraaja). If possible, please refer this Misplaced Pages article to other Misplaced Pages users who may be interested and may be able to provide constructive comments for the improvement of this article. Thanks. Splashprince 01:32, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

NCLSC Banner

Hope you saw the reply I posted int the Project NCLSC section. Prepared this easy-to use code. Please add it to the talk pages in the scope. It also has a category. --∞Sechzehn1610:10, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Result

This article is within the scope of the NCSLC Project, a collaborative effort to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of Ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka and to provide a balanced opinion on the ongoing crisis. The primary objective is to contribute and maintain pages pertaining to the Sri Lanka Tamils, LTTE and the Sri Lankan government's efforts towards resolving the crisis.

NCSLC stands for Neutral Coverage of the Sri Lankan Crisis. If you would like to participate, you can visit the project page, where you can join the project and see a list of open tasks.

Vandalism

Please do not remove content from Misplaced Pages, as you did to Velupillai Prabhakaran. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --snowolfD4 15:39, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

The text is sourced from the BBC article. Removing it is vandalism. Do not remove it again. You will be blocked from editing if you continue to blank the article. --snowolfD4 18:04, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

By repetitively using the word 'vandalism' you cannot claim that I am a vandal, because I have documented every edit I have made in the talk page. Refute it there and claim for the 'vandal' tag than making dubious claims!! This isn't a warning mate, it's quite simply just a joke! Refer to the talk page for all justifications made as per Wiki policies! Sudharsansn 18:37, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Your request on my talk page

Sudharsansn, Sorry, I am currently busy with other things. I don't have time to get into a mediation dispute. Folks at third opinion might be willing to help you. Please post your request there. If that doesn't work, ask for help at administrator noticeboard. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 16:35, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

    • Cartography Department (Shortcut:WP:INMAP): The Department of Cartography within the WikiProject India is a group of wikipedians who work on providing quality maps related to India. Their contributions gain more significance as we try to provide more information on places, districts and states of India. As a thumb rule, maps serve better if they are in SVG format. The location maps by the cartography department has helped us include location information based on latitudes and longitudes for a give place within India. The Indian Roadways map is a featured image, one amongst the few best road maps in the world. Still, there is more work to be done. There are 604 districts in India (see List of districts of India), and each district page needs a map of that district. You can help too. Contact the Cartography Department to learn how you can help in making the best maps in Misplaced Pages to be India-related!

    • I saw the image is offensive. Is there any way to report and remove this image? --∞Sechzehn1614:08, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
    • There is also a userbox against some of us, User:Lahiru_k/UserBox/Oppose_against_LTTE which I found totally notorious. I complained to the Personal Attack Intervention Noticeboard, where they asked me to wait for a while because our friend User:Elalan has already issued Lahiru_k a warning. And with the desire for the Misplaced Pages not to become a host for these dirty and notorious jokes, I listed the image for deletion. Let's wait and see how it goes. If this image is kept in Misplaced Pages, then it is the game time for us to create its counterpats - or even better or worse! Recently, I am making some of my friends working in Japanese version of Misplaced Pages on the coverage of Sri Lankan crisis - it is totally biased to the extend that it says neusences like LTTE is liked with the Maoist rebels and they claim Tamil Nadu - a hard work to be done there too. Wishing you a nice week ahead. --16 19:20, 14 November 2006 (UTC) (Changed my signature for simplicity)
Actually this image is copyright violation. Its Donkey from the movie Shrek. The copyright permission on this is invalid. Elalan
