Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Semi-Protection - heavy vandalism since unprotection; difficult to keep up with. -Patstuart 00:42, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Cattle (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Please semi-protect again. The page had recently been semi-protected for massive long-term vandalism, but for some inexplicable reason was unprotected today. It's since been vandalized 11 times. —Psychonaut 23:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- Semi-protected due to rampant vandalism since I unprotected it yesterday. Nishkid64 00:49, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Stephen Colbert at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi- or full protection - This article was on the main page's featured article for today, and so many IP addresses were so concerned with the article's topic that they tend to disrupt it without second thoughts. --Gh87 23:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- Semi-protected due to heavy vandalism yesterday. I suspect it will continue today. Nishkid64 00:48, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Zoo Tycoon 2: Dino Danger Pack (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full Protection - Both these articles have been heavily vandilised even after the release of both games. False information like extra content is being added when alot of people already have it. --Cuddly Panda 22:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Paul Harvey (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full-protection - Request that edits to page are only allowed to be made by Paul Harvey News employees (this user name: Paulharveynews). Edits we have made have been undone several times since October 2006. Some of the article's previous content is mis-leading/untrue. Would like page to remain as it is now.Paulharveynews 22:35, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Paulharveynews
- Declined as the MediaWiki software can't allow editing only by selective users, and such would go against Misplaced Pages policy as we do not own pages. I will watchlist the page and assist in removing vandalism that shows up. Cowman109 22:48, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Utterly fails to meet the Misplaced Pages:Protection policy criteria. There is no history of vandalism to this image. Administrators shouldn't protect their own images simply because they want to. —Psychonaut 23:53, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Mohammad Khatami's reforms (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Article has been protected for a long time. It was protected to 'stop edit warring', while only 2 reverts had taken place and no chance was given for a proper discussion on the talk page. Since then, there has been some exchange of opinions on the talk page. Moreover, it was protected a few minutes after it was reverted to a horribly POV-pushing version (see the talk page for evidence of this claim). Barnetj 19:06, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Category:Anti-Semitic people (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Category has been protected for five months to 'stop edit warring', except to edits made by admins (which include a minor grammar-based CFD). Semi/unprotecting the category will allow for a potential solution to the debates over this category. The talk page shows consensus that the category is overly subjective. While my personal preference is for a CfD to Category:People who have made or published anti-Semitic statements since it doesn't make the claim that a person is essentially anti-Semitic, unprotecting will allow for other potential changes as well. Editors who oppose the category have seen little reason to suggest alternate names because it has been locked from editing. Antonrojo 18:12, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Palestinian exodus (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
More than what is disputed has been removed. Users agree to restore previous information, while the disputed quotation is subject to further discussion. --Shamir1 00:48, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

full protection - Two authors have been reverting each other over a very trivial matter for severasl days now. Protection will force them to talk it out instead of continuing this edit war. Jtrost ( | C | #) 12:48, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Can we have protection from editors who have been editing for less than 6 months? This is really an absurd topic to disagree over. What next? Cornish pasty? Brussel sprouts? Irish coffee? :-) Politis 16:43, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

While this article has only been vandalized 3 times today, this article has always been a staple for vandals to skewer the truth. I'm requesting semi-protection to prevent these vandals from deliberately adding mistakes. bibliomaniac15 05:57, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

File:Garment.jpg (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
I am requesting protection for this image because many different editors are attempting to censor the viewing of this image. It has currently been removed from at least two articles where it is highly appropriate for use as an illustration for a subject of that article. I would like for you to restore this image to the articles Temple garment and Undergarment and then lock it so it can't be removed again. I would revert it myself but one editor has filed a 3RR complaint against me for restoring the picture after many new incidents of vandalism. Some new accounts are being created and the only articles that have edited by these editors have been for the deletion of this image. You will easily see the numerous deletions of this image by both new and old editors. Thank You Duke53 | 05:43, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- Declined Protecting the image won't stop it being removed from articles. Martinp23 11:52, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Support - Too much anon nonsense, its gone from B class to start in quality.Bakaman Bakatalk 23:34, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- That's no justification for semi-protecting the page. You guys apparently are major contributors to the page (judging from the talk page), and it shouldn't be that hard to revert vandalism where appropriate. There are tons of places where the article can be fixed, and I don't see why anon vandalism is really stopping you in doing so. Nishkid64 23:42, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Judaism (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Somebody unprotected this prematurely. This is one of those articles that will probably always have to be at least semi-protected due to anti-semitism, whether light or heavy. It is true that we get vandalism from established registered users, but this is an article that NEEDS to be constantly updated so full-protection is out. Let's at least curb the anonymous IPs that constantly vandalize the page with hate and stupidity. Valley2city 21:19, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Fantasia Barrino (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
The same anonymous user has once again started up an engaged in edit war with this article. This time it is over the same image of the singer that is copyrighted. The user uses many different IP addresses and had ignored my attempt to cordially resolve dispute. To avoid violating the 3RR i will not revert back but i ask an admin to intervene and protect this article. The anon IP user cannot be blocked because they use so many different IDs it is hard to keep count. For the best interests of Misplaced Pages this article must be protected from editing by anonymous users. 200.167.230.39 19:15, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Bob & Tom Show (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting semi-protection for this article because of continuous need to remove vanadlism by new or anonymous users. As this show is syndicated on over 150 radio stations throughout the USA, it is a prime target for those who make an attempt at humor. They also then seem to serially vandalize other WikiPedia articles which spinoff from the show: Bob Kevoian, Tom Griswold, Chick McGee, Kristi Lee, Dean Metcalf and Tim Bedore. I'd appreciate what can be done. Thanks Lmcelhiney 18:08, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
