The Angakuei people are members of the clan Keui, from Baidit Payam, Jonglei, South Sudan. The word Angakuei originates from the word kuei, which means eagle. Abel Alier, the first president of the High Executive Council of Southern Sudan, is from the Angakuei clan. Angakueis as they are commonly known is the second largest clan in jonglei states behind Kongor. The believed to differ by one person which 1% base on the counting system of the time. They use to believe in a small god called liarpiou or alier . It have 6 sub-clans known as follows: Kuai Ajak, Leek Ajak, Lith Akuok, Dongduor, Nyang Deng, and Hol & Pen.
