The line runs from Fairport west to North Chili along a former New York Central Railroad line. Both of its ends are at the Rochester Subdivision; it provides a southern bypass of Rochester.
History
The entire line opened in 1884 as part of the New York, West Shore and Buffalo Railway. It became part of the New York Central and Conrail through leases, mergers, and takeovers, and was assigned to CSX in the 1999 breakup of Conrail.
