Daniel Keem, more commonly known as Keemstar, is an American Youtuber and streamer. He is the owner of the Youtube channel DramaAlert, which has over 5.3 million subscribers as of September 2, 2019.



Career


History


Keem's first appearance on Youtube was in a Halo 3 Youtube video from 2009, where he was recorded through the online multiplayer voice-chat. His first Youtube channel, xDJKEEMSTAR, was created in 2009 and dedicated to giving news within the Youtube community. Years after, in June 2014, he started his channel DramaAlert which is now the current iteration of Drama Alert. Keem often offers his own opinions in his videos, such as going against popular streamer Alinity when she threw her cat on a live stream and going against Youtuber Matt Watson when he claimed that you can find pedophilic content on Youtube, with Keem tweeting that "Matt Watson is a fraud."



Controversies


In 2008, Keem got into a heated argument on the website BattleCam.com with a moderator named Alex, where Keem then told his viewers to type in the chat "Alex is a stupid nigger." He has since apologized. A video clip of this moment is often used against Keem. 

In January 2016, Keem tweeted at TotalBiscuit, a Youtuber with terminal cancer, with Keem saying in a mocking tone that he couldn't wait to report on his death. Keem has since apologized for his remark and made a tweet honoring TotalBiscuit when he died in May 2018.

In January 2019, popular Youtuber Jake Paul claimed that Keem body-shamed his girlfriend at the time Erika Costell after Keem made a tweet comparing her body to Eugenia Cooney, a Youtuber with an eating disorder.

In June 2019, after popular Youtuber and Streamer Etika's suicide, many people blamed Keem for his death due to a past interview where Keem said "If you really think about it, then why live? Just jump off a cliff. If it’s just a simulation, who cares?" in response to Etika talking about how he believed he lived in a simulation. Keem refuted these claims in a series of tweets, saying that people are using him as a scapegoat and that nobody shows the tweets where he was concerned for him. He then went on to say that he thought Etika's mental health issues were a publicity stunt, due to him seeming fine and wanting to guest star on Drama Alert. Etika's mother defended Keem afterwards, stating that he isn't to blame for Etika's suicide.



Personal life


Keem has a young daughter named Mia, who he keeps away from the spotlight. Keem holds right-wing views, and has shown support for Donald Trump in numerous tweets. He was name-dropped in Etika's last video before his suicide, with Etika saying "Keemstar, I wish you the best."
