Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||

Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Current requests for increase in protection level
Opinion polling for the 2019 Portuguese legislative election
- Opinion polling for the 2019 Portuguese legislative election (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: High level of IP disruption; IP SPA has taken over the article and keeps adding the same homemade content in a clear violation of WP:V, WP:OR, WP:NPOV and WP:NOTBLOG. Impru20 17:27, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
- Declined – Warn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. Lectonar (talk) 05:59, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Visa Waiver Program
Semi-protection: persistent IP vandalism. Twofortnights (talk) 20:02, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Temporary semi-protection: Edit warring since 4 October, with one editor warring against a couple of others, despite an ongoing discussion on the talk page. I've just failed a GAN at the article (the nominator is the main one warring) – not quite at 3RR, but a locked article should focus things on the talk page. – SchroCat (talk) 20:55, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
- Declined Semi-protection would have no effect. Warn and report to ANEW, not inclined to cut off all editing due to only two users. ST47 (talk) 02:49, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- Bringing this one back: that's an unsatisfactory response. For a start it's at least three users, and it's been going on for over three days. Report to ANEW? I've clearly stated that it doesn't rise to 3RR (it's spread over more than 24 hours, which means it'll get bounced out of there straight away and I'll be accused of forum shopping). If you want to enable edit warring, that's fine, but at least make sure you get the facts right in your dismissive statement. - SchroCat (talk) 07:18, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- Note: 3RR is just a limit for occasions when an edit war is happening fairly quickly, but it is not per se the definition of "edit warring", or a prerequisite for a report at ANEW. Edit wars do occur frequently without breaking the three-revert rule. I am with ST47 here...a report to said board would be the better solution imho, as the disruption doesn't (yet) warrant full protection. Lectonar (talk) 08:29, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Vandalism by several IPs and new users within past week. andritolion (talk) 23:18, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Was a spike around the 7th. Lectonar (talk) 06:05, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Salvador Panelo
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism of the spokesperson of a controversial president. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 23:29, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Lordtobi (✉) 06:24, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Not sure why school children Utah have taken an interest in the subject, but it has not been constructive. Perhaps a month of protection will suffice. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:52, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Mihirakula
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – An IP-hopper falsifying "Etymology" section since August 2019. They always add their personal commentary to that section, e.g. see this recent diff and revision history. Wario-Man (talk) 08:13, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Page was ECP protected 3 years ago due to an edit war. Cannot contact OhNoItsJamie as talk pages aren’t loading for me Heyaaaaalol (talk) 06:18, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

- I think lowering protection of that page would be waste of time, but if someone else wants to I won't object. OhNoitsJamie 16:17, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Further information: Misplaced Pages:Edit requests ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
