Mills E. Godwin High School is located in The West End of Henrico County, Virginia. The school, operated by Henrico County Public Schools, was named in honor of Mills E. Godwin Jr. (1914-1999) who was Governor of Virginia for two non-consecutive terms (1966 to 1970 and 1974 to 1978). Its mascot is the Eagle.
In 1980, Godwin High School opened its doors to students. It remained the newest high school in Henrico County until Deep Run High School opened its doors in 2002. There are over 2,000 students in the student body. Douglas S. Freeman High School and Deep Run High School are Godwin's two biggest rivalries. They compete against each other in the regular sports season and at district, regional, and state matches.
