WSIL-TV is an ABC television affiliate in Carterville, Illinois. It operates on analog channel 3. It also operates a satellite sister station, KPOB, channel 15, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Both stations are owned by Melvin C Wheeler, LLC. WSIL's transmitter is located near Creal Springs, Illinois.

WSIL, which signed on the air in December 1953 (originally on UHF channel 22), is part of the Harrisburg, Ill./Cape Girardeau, Mo./Paducah, Ky. TV market and covers southern Illinois and western Kentucky, plus southeastern Missouri and part of northeastern Arkansas (via KPOB, which signed on the air on September 15, 1967).

For many years, WSIL and KPOB did not clear the weeknight broadcasts of ABC News, airing instead a children's show featuring cartoons and Three Stooges shorts in the 5:30-6:30 p.m. time slots. It was not until sometime in the late 1970s that the station finally became the last ABC affiliate in the U.S. to abandon the practice of preempting the network news. However, in ABC's earlier years, quite a number of local stations did not carry the newscasts because their ratings trailed competitors CBS and NBC by a large margin; this changed when ABC initiated the "World News Tonight" format, finally establishing the network as a significant news operation.
