The Energy Institute (EI) is a UK chartered professional membership body.
Structure
The Energy Institute is licensed by the Engineering Council to offer Chartered, Incorporated and Engineering Technician status to engineers and also by the Society for the Environment to offer registration as Chartered Environmentalist.
Membership
The EI offers various grades of individual membership:
The non- professional grades of membership are: Affiliate, Associate (for those planning to get professionally qualified) and Student,
The professional grades are:
Member (MEI);
Fellow (FEI);
Chartered Energy Manager;
Chartered Engineer (CEng);
Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv),
Engineering Technician (EngTech)
Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
Technician Member (TMEI)
Note - Members can hold more than one grade
There are also three grades of company membership: Compamy; Technical Company and Technical Partner
Publications
The EI publishes two membership magazines: Petroleum Review and Energy World.
Elsevier publishes the Journal of the Energy Institute on behalf of the Energy Institute
The EI also publishes, via the EI Publications website, a wide range of technical guidance documents, research papers and standards to support the energy industry
