A novel by Mary Elizabeth Braddon, written in (1862). The novel is about a bigamous beautiful blonde, who deserts her child, murders her first husband and considers poisoning her second husband. Though it was considered fairly immoral at the time of publication, it was extremely successful. It has been in print ever since in the United Kingdom.
