Compressed gas as a fuel

When you reversed your move of Compressed gas, you failed to move the corresponding talk page back. Any reason for that? --RexxS (talk) 20:10, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. It appears that you tried to give Compressed gas as fuel a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Compressed gas. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Misplaced Pages has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Misplaced Pages:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:43, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

You've been editing Misplaced Pages longer than I have. Why not check out the WP:Requested moves page to familiarise yourself with how to move a page rather than conduct disruptive cut and paste moves? —  AjaxSmack  03:55, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of The Restart Project

Hello Genetics4good,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Restart Project for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Promotion

Hey Genetics4good. I see that you recently changed your username.

Your username reflects an interest in promoting gene therapy. Please be aware of WP:SOAP, which is policy.

Also please be careful to use high quality sources per WP:MEDRS when editing about health, and please be sure to summarize them accurately. In this diff and this diff you misrepresented this source as supporting content saying that gene therapy is used in infectious disease vaccine. There is no actual use for that yet. As the site says it "has promise" for that. Jytdog (talk) 14:52, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi Jytdog,
I changed my name because I wanted to do more edits on genetic modification in general, and most things I altered on it so far actually made things more objective and accurate (wheras in the past they were very negative, sometimes even without any references whatsoever), and making things more accrurate is my intent.
I don't want to "promote" anything, rather just make the the potential of the technology clearer.
As for the saying that gene therapy is used in infectious disease vaccins today: I never wrote that. I just tried to make it clear that it could be used in the future for this purpose; ie read:
"Resistance to infection (immunity) may be acquired following a disease, by asymptomatic carriage of the pathogen, by harboring an organism with a similar structure (crossreacting), by vaccination or by gene therapy"

References

Thank you for contributing to Misplaced Pages. Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN. We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. Proposed deletion of Dating.ai

Hello, Genetics4good. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Dating.ai, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

More care, please

Hello. Your user name suggests a particular interest in Genetically modified crops, and your edits do contain interesting information. I notice you tend to overinterpret for the encyclopedia, bordering on WP:OR, WP:SYNTH, and WP:CRYSTAL. You also do not fill out all reference information -- which would be easy to do using the dropdown template in the upper left edit header; WP:CIT -- and your punctuation often follows a reference rather than going before it; see WP:REFPUNCT. I'm writing to ask you to take your time and care for making better edits. Following you here if you wish to reply. --Zefr (talk) 15:37, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

With this edit today, you promote MTI (WP:PROMO), do not provide a complete source (WP:CIT), propose future possible benefits (WP:CRYSTAL), and ignore punctuation guidelines (WP:REFPUNCT). Guess you're not interested in improving as an editor. --Zefr (talk) 16:51, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
Yes I wanted to add something about multiple trait integration as all those listed genetic modifications only add one trait (so they're not any better than say cross-breeding, which does integrate several traits). Feel free to edit it and make it better. Regarding the reference info: I'm still old-skool and use what I'm accustomed to (plain wikitext editing rather than the VisualEditor, and plain reflinks rather than templates, since reflinks are easier to use.Genetics4good (talk) 17:00, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
I would also echo Zefr's request to take more care. You are editing in a very controversial area and your username implies that you are biased towards GM which may lead you to problems. As editors we need to leave our real-world biases at the door and ensure that our edits reflect all the sources that exist (both positive and negative). And regarding references, if you cite papers, you can use this tool to generate refences from the digital object identifier (DOI). You should also have a toolbar above the wikitext window that says "> Cite". If you click on that and then select "cite journal" from "Templates" you can enter the DOI into that and then click on the magnifying glass to fetch the author/title etc. SmartSE (talk) 12:34, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

A formality

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in genetically modified organisms, commercially produced agricultural chemicals and the companies that produce them, broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Template:Z33

I'm posting this as a continuation of the very good advice from other editors just above. Please understand that this is just a formality, to make sure that you are aware of the rules, and I am not in any way implying that you have done anything wrong. Thanks. --Tryptofish (talk) 14:09, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Help with article

Dear Genetics4good, I noticed you edited pages related to and have an interest in genome sequencing. As I'm a new user and just getting to grips with Misplaced Pages I would really appreciate help with creating a page for a genetic sequencing and research start up (called Sano Genetics) that I'm working with. I want to avoid COI where possible, so would be really grateful if you would have the time to write a brief page up about the company or if you could help point out where I went wrong with the original page. Any help would be really appreciated and given your interest in genetics you might find the company interesting too! Either way, best wishes and thanks for reading this - Clarealev (talk) 20:42, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Clarealev.
I'm not sure whether there isn't always going to be some sort of conflict of interest (COI) as you are being paid by that company (see https://en.wikipedia.org/User:Clarealev ). Beyond that, a page you create also needs to be noteworthy (but perhaps that might not be an issue since the company you mention also works with whole genome sequencing and whole exome sequencing, whereas SNP is more common in the industry. I also read it puts emphasis on ethics.
I see that the main reason for the rejection of the article was "Unambiguous advertising or promotion".
I can't read the original draft, so I can't see what you need to change. My advise would be to make a simple article (stub) first and expand it later and use the talk page then to discuss the issues the other wikipedians have with the article. That said, I would think an article like this is better written by someone which isn't related to the company in any way.Genetics4good (talk) 14:56, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi Genetics4Good,
Thanks for your response - I agree that some level of COI will be hard to negate entirely, which is why it would be great if someone else was able or willing to rewrite the article who is entirely outside of the company - is there any way you would be interested in doing this? I am happy to send or email you the original stub, just to help get a framework which you could change/delete as you see fit. Otherwise, I'm not sure how else I can proceed. I'd really appreciate it if you were able to and it wouldn't have to take too much time or be more than a basic outline. Thanks for your advice and help on this! - Clarealev (talk) 15:06, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) It is a tiny start up company at the moment and very far from meeting our notability requirements for companies. Consequently, any attempt to create the article, regardless of whether it is promotional or not, is very likely to result in it being deleted. SmartSE (talk) 17:02, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
I already thought the notability would be an issue. Clarealev, perhaps it's best to wait with making the article untill there is more press coverage and until the company has grown somewhat ? I personally won't make the article either.

Using a template for source information

Hello -- in this edit and others you make on other articles, you don't fill out source information, causing other editors to come in and clean up after you. Random 'See also' links, as at Agriculture

Hi, could you please take more care with See also links. You have added two that really don't make a lot of sense in the past few minutes. The purpose of See also is to direct the reader to topics that they will very likely be interested in, given their interest in the article's topic. It is neither for subtopics, which should be discussed, linked, and cited in the article; nor in wildly different topics or minor sub-sub-sub-topics that are vaguely related to something or other. Chiswick Chap (talk) 07:44, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

Hey Chiswick, the single cell protein link you removed at agriculture does seem to be on target at the Agriculture article since it appears to become a large part in agriculture (microorganism farming is also mentioned in the report from Rethink X (rethinking agriculture) and it hasn't been mentioned at all at the agriculture page. Genetics4good (talk) 08:00, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

No, I do not agree that single cell protein is a valid See also link at Agriculture. It is way too minor a sub-sub(-sub) topic. I think you are meaning that Agriculture includes Animal husbandry; an aspect of that is feeding; an aspect of feeding is researching and introducing novel foods for certain purposes; one such novel food is single cell protein. Roughly correct? If so, we have an implicit hierarchy something like
Agriculture
Animal husbandry
Animal feeding
Novel animal foods
Single cell protein (for humans, etc)

For this reason, it is NOT appropriate to tangle up the top-level article with see alsos. If the topic were of major importance at top-level then it would get a section of that article. Instead, it will make more sense to discuss it (far) lower down in the hierarchy, with or without its own article. Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:06, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

Well actually, I didn't mean using single cell protein for fodder, but rather to make protein for humans (so a bit like meat substitutes, ...). Think Quorn and the like, but also done with microorganisms like bacteria, ... So in this sense, it would be way higher in the hierarchy you mention.
Can you reintroduce the link to circular agriculture (removed at Agriculture page I believe) ? It is different from the other methods (sustainable/eco, ... agriculture) as it involves a top-down approach (so government-driven), the others tend to be bottom-up (farmer-driven).

Genetics4good (talk) 11:18, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

No, single cell protein for humans remains a very (very very) minor aspect of agriculture. In fact if it's created in an industrial vat it isn't agriculture at all but part of the food industry. I've added it to the hierarchy above to save redrawing the whole diagram here. I'd be really grateful if you'd stop modifying the top-level agriculture articles and think slowly and carefully through what I've said until you understand the reasoning. You are right, by the way, that it's not "farmer-driven"; it isn't farming/agriculture at all. Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:42, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
Sure, circular agriculture isn't really agriculture, it's more like a system of managing agriculture in a sustaineble way within the current economy. However, links at the see also section don't need to fall directly in the same category, they just need to be "related" topics.
As for single cell protein/microorganism use being a very very minor aspect: sure it is currently used very little in the industry, but in the Rethink X report, it is said to increase a lot within the industry, together with other techniques.

Disruptive editing

I'd also be grateful if you could stop adding any number of minor topics as See alsos to Animal husbandry. All of them so far have been inappropriate, and they will I believe all be removed in due course as against consensus. Your continuing after being asked (here, at 08:06 today) is WP:DISRUPTIVE editing: please read that policy if you are not already familiar with it. Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:47, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

Just saw this, and will abide. PS: I did saw your notice earlier, but that was just for the agriculture article itself, didn't think then I needed to stop editing all other articles focused on the agriculture field. I'll work on other topics instead. Only wanted to introduce info on some food inefficiency topics, not yet covered here at wikipedia, and of significant value as circular agriculture is taking hold.

RCB and NCP

Please note that disambiguation pages like RCB and NCP are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Misplaced Pages:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Misplaced Pages is not a business directory
  • Do not add articles to acronym or initials disambiguation pages unless the person or entity is widely known by that name (in which case it should be stated in the linked article).

I have modified both articles with a link to Photosynthetic efficiency#Chloroplast biogenesis which is the only article I could find that mentions these proteins.

Thank you. Leschnei (talk) 13:00, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

David Kipping moved to draftspace

I've moved your article David Kipping to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can continue to work on the article with minimal disruption. Currently the article is incompletely translated from French, and as a result its references and parts of the article body are not working. When you feel the article meets Misplaced Pages's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Terrascope

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Terrascope requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Misplaced Pages page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Misplaced Pages pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — Sagotreespirit () 15:47, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Misplaced Pages. The comment the reviewer left was: not yet notable Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer.
