William Pinkney White (August 8, 1824March 17, 1908), a member of the United States Democratic Party, was a politician who served the State of Maryland in a large variety of capacities and positions. From 1847-1849, he was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Baltimore, Maryland; from 1854-1856, he was the Comptroller of the state treasury; from 1868-1869, 1875-1881, and 1906-1908, he was a U.S. Senator representing Maryland; from 1872-1874, he was the 36 Governor of Maryland; from 1881-1883, he was the Mayor of Baltimore; from 1887-1891, he was the Attorney General of Maryland.
