Liberation of Taiwan is a term used in the People's Republic of China to garner public opinion for cross-Strait unification, proposing the use of military force to achieve it.
The most radical idea, popularised on social media after 2016, calls for the genocide of all residents of Taiwan (simplified Chinese: 留岛不留人; traditional Chinese: 留島不留人; pinyin: liú dǎo bù liú rén; lit. 'leave island not leave people'). There is no evidence that this is a serious policy of the People's Liberation Army.
