Nino Valdez (Geraldo Ramos Ponciano Valdez) (December 5 1924-June 3 2001) was 1950's Cuban heavyweight boxing champion. He was a top contender for Rocky Marciano's title in early 1950's. He was never given a chance at the Rock due to his mixed fighting results. On December 7th 1955 he lost a 11/11 UD to Bob "The Grinder" Baker, if he was to win a title bout against Rock was a sure bet, at least in his country, in June 1956. After retirement he worked as security and bouncer.
