Raveen, I think you should be part of this regarding the Arsath case .

An interesting article I read

Hi Raveen S. I wanted to pass on an article I read. It's called Double standards and appeared on this site, as well as on here. . It talks about the massacre in Kathiraveli and another massacre in Beit Hanoun. It cites the Asian tribune on one occasion - a site that is hardly a benchmark of credible journalism, but anyway I thought you might want to read the article. I think it's good.Citermon 08:12, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Kumar Ponnambalam

I created the initial article about kumar, although I do not anyway agree with his controversial political views, as a person he was a well articulated who had many singhalese friends. I have run into trouble citing sources, maybe you can continue to improve on it. I do not think that it qualifies as state sponsored terrorism however as it appears to be a personal issue with regard to kumars political views by the despicable Mahen Ratwatte. Ratwatte's sons as a whole are a national disgrace and there actions should not constitute as a expression of the sinhala viewpoint. Kumar was towing the LTTE line for many years quite freely in the heart of colombo, this appears to be more of a personal vendetta rather than a state event. Kerr avon 14:19, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks I will look into it. Agree we should be very careful about the word State terrorism as you have find a RS that says it was. I learnt that much from the debateRaveenS 14:21, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
I made some more modifications citing newspapers excerpts regarding Kumar and tried to maintain a NPOV with regard to the parties involved. Please feel free to edit it, as it needs polishing and more research to make a good article, regardless of his political views he was a good man who as a lawyer defended sinhalese people too sometimes appearing free of charge when he saw social injustice. You have shown yourself to be a good editor and with your knowledge of Tamil affairs you should be able to improve it considerably. Thanks.Kerr avon 18:34, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

what for ??

Why should i apologize for something which i dint do ?? please, kindly, stop making false accusations or otherwise i'm going to warn for you civility and report you to appropriate authority. --Iwazaki 11:41, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

I said IF you had. Well read it properly before beliving that I accused you, we simply have to follow Wiki process then. ThanksRaveenS 17:39, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
though u said IF, you sounded like pretty much sure it was me.Please follow the wiki process instead of having baseless accusations on a fellow wikipedian

--Iwazaki 01:59, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

well..you sounded like pretty much sure it was me..And since then, you have emphasizes the IF part, and these accusations are completely irrelevant to me, i simply choose to ignore the whole things..For creating new articles, having seen what happened to the article "terrorist attack carried out by the LTTE" and seen how biased are some "decision making people", i guess i need to think a million times before doing anything here.anyway, thanks for the idea.--Iwazaki 03:47, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Rajkumar Kanagasingam

Though the Rajkumar Kanagasingam was posted by me to the wikipedia originally but wrongly as a newbie (and still feel so), it was actually created by Wackymacs and subsequently shaped by others , , , and .

After they all have given notability for Rajkumar Kanagasingam only, I started to shape the Rajkumar Kanagasingam.

The Daily News of Sri Lanka is a Sri Lanka's National Newspaper since 1918 and the widest read newspaper in Sri Lanka and overseas.

Rajkumar Kanagasingam has published articles over the years and the following articles , , and are available online since 2002.

Though the articles have been written by the subject Rajkumar Kanagasingam, the facts he has mentioned in those articles might have well accepted by the populace without any complaint before he published the next article over the years and might have established some credibility within the Editorial circle as well.

I wonder why those articles can't be considered as Reference for Rajkumar Kanagasingam.

The Press Release in Daily News could speak for Rajkumar Kanagasingam's association with leading Sri Lankan and international personalities and adding notability for Rajkumar Kanagasingam.

The US State Department's Office of Weapons Removal and Abatements "Safe Passage" Newsletter carried a news on "Night of A Thousand Dinners" which was organised jointly by Asian-German Sports Exchange Program and PDIP, A Think Tank which was founded by Rajkumar Kanagasingam.

As the PDIP's Secretary-General, his activities in the available publications (on-line) will speak for his achievements.

All of his above attempts are substantial enough for a fair testimony for his notability among Sri Lankans and gives weight of his book German Memories in Asia which is about-to-be-released.

Ezine Articles may be "Vanity Press" but the contents in most of the articles by Rajkumar Kanagasingam are falling in the lines of well-researched and well-documented articles than those of mere Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ones.

After all his Ezine Articles are linking to his Book/Author Info. Page in AGSEP, which is an NGO and not to his personal or affiliated sites with ulterior motives of Ad Sense and click-gimmicks. As an author he is trying his fair attempt for his book without any hidden baits.

Some of the linkings might be Link Farms as I am a newbie of mere three months, but you should consider few of the internationally prominent people I have so far created and those have been left out in the wikipedia so far, especially Dr. Gamani Corea and others.

I have spent lot of my time to keep Dominic Jeeva from deletion with rest of my creations Arumaipperumal and Pandara Vannian which are not falling into the Link Farms.

The Internet is introduced after the mid nineties and still most of the news items are not falling into the web-world. By expecting reference for testing a person's notability with on-line reference materials might be some times misleading where the particular persons' references are mostly in off-line media archives.

Internet is mostly weighing a person's prominence based on the Internet availability in English and few other languages and not in all other world or local languages.

I don't have any objections if suitable and appropriate deleting Rajkumar Kanagasingam from wikipedia, but my kind expectation is at least wikipedia should attempt to have a survey among Sri Lankans through its available means whether Rajkumar Kanagasingam is prominent enough or not among Sri Lankans.

Deceptive block message

You left a message for User:Mithunan saying that he had been blocked () when, in fact, his block log shows that he has never been blocked: . While it is true that his edits are inappropriate for Misplaced Pages, that doesn't give you permission to lie about such things, or to pose as someone who has the authority to block him. These actions are disruptive in themselves. Please be sure not to do so in the future, regarding Mithunan or any other editor. FreplySpang 15:45, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry I was not ware that I could'nt use the template {{|Blocked}} Thanks RaveenS
Okay, just don't do it again. Using the template doesn't actually block the person. Only admins can actually block someone. Thanks for being careful about the 3RR rule, too. I've done a bit of cleanup on Anton Balasingham, removing the message that Mithunan posted. FreplySpang 17:57, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I've blocked him for 24 hours; perhaps that will get his attention. The note you left on his page was very nice - thank you for taking the time to try to help a newbie! In the future, you may get a quicker response by reporting a case like this to WP:AIV instead of to just one admin. Regards, FreplySpang 22:05, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Massacres

Thanks for the help organizing and stratifying the cat.Bakaman 04:13, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

They were all sinhalese my dear friend

It was good that you created a separate article for "Pothuvil massacre" ,as it clearly exposed the true nature of the LTTE agenda.Having said that, I must say, that you are quite wrong in calling the dead Sinhalese fishermen at Kent and Dollar farm, tamil speakers. Negombo may have had, a minority tamil community which became sinhalized. But the vast majority of the "negombo" sinhalese are certainly do not have a tamil origin..Or I could say ,this is actually the other way around.as North and East was predominantly Sinhalese for centuries(Esp East which had a certain sinhalese majority as late as 1815),there is a huge possibility that many tamils have sinhalese origins. I have read an article by an English Gentlemen ,in which he said many sinhalese lived in east became tamilised during the British time..Since almost all the public workers were tamils and they were the ones who were directly had contact with british rulers and tamil was exclusively used in every aspect of life, many sinhalese had no choice but to give up their language(and customs). A sad truth !! Have you noticed that the many place names of north and east are Sinhalese origin ?? --Iwazaki 10:07, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

well, while accepting some of the karava and durava cast have south indean root, i must its hypothetical to generalize this to all the people belong to those casts. Actually i've done quite bit of reading about these things, esp the durava cast(there are plenty of books at vajirarama temple),and i couldnt find out a single evidence to prove that, the first duraves or karaves are actually tamils.Thought the fact that, they have come from south indea is true, you have to remember that there is a good portion of south indeans who are actually have "north or central indean" roots.DO you know the legends say that the first duraves refused to disembark from the ship ,unless the sinhalese king come and welcome them personally ?? Also, pls bear in mind , that even in Present tamil nadu, esp in madras, there are many teligu speaking people who dont consider them selves tamil..I have met around 10 native tamils(all are friends now) here, and none of them consider them selves tamil, coz they all have "teligu"roots.--Iwazaki 05:05, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
raveen brother, read your lengthy description at my talk page.well, I must tell you that, Iam indeed surprised and obviously impressed of your knowledge of certain things, which many sri lankans happily ignored for a quite a long time.Though some of your knowledge is flawed ,there is a chance for you to learn some and hopefully I ll get the same opportunities here.

coming back to one of the main issues here, I must again ,should say with confidence that, many of the present day Sinhalese karaves and duraves do not have any south Indian roots at all..Though the beginning of these casts may have south indian origin ,and its quite certain as in the legends and for certain extent history , earliest karaves came from south india, there is absolutely no evidence to prove that they were in fact tamils. Not only were buddhist from the very beginning ,their physical characters were quite of not totally different to that of ordinary tamil people..Please, read the books written about sinhalese people by foreign travellers such as philip baldeaus. He had clearly stated that sinhalese and tamils(malabar) are not only different in the language they spoke, but also different in their complexes, skin colour and etc..And having seeing all my karave friends and relatives,I must say, I'am so far unable to see any similarities of them and tamils..But that doesnt mean, the original karaves were north indians..Why would i even say that ?? Though the migration of north Indians to the south during the time of mugal empire is a known fact for everyone, you must also remember that, there are south Indian people, who have been living there for centuries and yet do not consider them selves as tamils. And, teligu speakers are the best example.Actually, I met two of my teligu friends who are working as IT engineers in nagoya ,last weekend, and they assured me that, most of them do not consider them selves tamils!! I really hope some day ,there will be a proper DNA test, so we can put everything into rest..And I am sure the test will prove Sinhalese karaves and duravas are quite different to tamils in tamilnadu. BTW, I didnt know M. Karunanidhi is a teligu..But what I know that he is using the tamil racist card very well.We all know what happened to that famous tamil actor ,who had none tamil roots, when he tried to run for an election, don't we ??

As for your comments of muslims, why would you even think they are native tamil speakers ??!!! When most of the muslims in western coast do not consider tamil as their native language at all !! Muslims in Sri Lanka have various origins. Some may have come from the land of Arabia and some may have actually sinhalese origins..And since they live in Sri Lanka ,where the majority speaks sinhalese and historically a sinhalese land, I dont see any reason for them not to take sinhalese as their mother tongue.thanks--Iwazaki 16:18, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Cat

Hi Raveen, how are you? why are you changing categories on Sukhumi Massacre and Ethnic cleansing of Georgians in Abkhazia? Was there any complaints regarding the categorizations? Thanks in advance, best regards. Ldingley 16:49, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

I wasn't accusing you of being provocative by calling them war crimes; I was suggesting that you were being provocative by calling them war crimes committed in Georgia. I didn't realise that this was part of a broader recategorisation project, however; my mistake. The article editors can work out what to do with this situation on a local level. Dominic Jeeva

Hello!

I have done a extensive copyedit to the article on Dominic Jeeva (diff). However I have not been able to address the fundamental issue of whether or not he is still alive. Could you perhaps bring some clarity on that point?

Anton Balasingham

Thousands of Tamils in London and from overseas paid their last respect to Anton Balasingham, their one time hope for peace in their home land and the LTTE’s theoretician and chief negotiator at Alexandra Palace in north London.

Image:Anton Balasingham.jpg

Balasingham’s casket was placed at the front of the Palace’s Great Hall was escorted in by an honour guard, white gloved and dressed in black suits. After a brief initial ceremony, where hundreds of Tamil activists around the world participated by placing flower petals on Balasingham’s body, followed by a long line of families with children, youth and older Tamils and distinguished personalities internationally.

While paying respects, many wept openly, others prayed and some lifted their young children so they also could place petals. Community organizations from across the world have sent representatives and they placed dozens of wreaths and bouquets alongside the casket. While one said ‘Voice of the Nation’, the title bestowed on the LTTE theoretician by the movement, another said ‘Uncle’, the title by which many LTTE cadres used to address him affectionately.

Thousands of people from far away places arrived in several coaches and flights from Switzerland, France, Canada, US, Australia, Norway and Germany were waiting outside the venue on a freezing cold day and the queue snaked back from the Great Hall.

Balasingham was cremated shortly afterwards at a private ceremony leaving the people for whom he was fighting for by his intellectual wisdom.

I have well placed the reference for the above article, please let me know where I stand.

Hello!

A fair use image has been used in this user namespace (Image:Anton Balasingham.jpg in User talk:RaveenS).
