Starship flight test 9 will be the ninth flight test of A SpaceX Starship launch vehicle. Ship 35 and Booster 16 are expected to fly on this test flight. It is expected to be the third flight of a Block 2 ship. Starship will likely be placed into a Low Earth orbit. Possibility of ship catch is unknown after loss of ship on flight 7. S35 may deploy Starlinks into LEO, provided that Flight 8 is successful.

SpaceX is expected to perform the test in 2025.

Background

Vehicle testing ahead of launch

As of January 2025, testing is yet to commence for both vehicles. Ship 35 is still under construction with parts hinting at catch hardware, while B16 is awaiting cryogenic testing.
