Sandra Bernhard
As I recall, there was a controversy when Madonna performed this song. Sandra Bernhard had been singing the song as the closing of her nightclub act. She claims Madonna "stole" the idea of covering the song from her. There were other accusations made by the two women against each other as well. If anyone has the details, it would be worth including in this article. MK2 02:14, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Merging/Separation of different versions of same song
Please note : There is a discussion at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Songs/coverversions with the purpose of trying to establish a standard rule for merge/separate different versions of the same song. Please make known your feelings on the matter. Regards. --Richhoncho (talk) 07:43, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
A new merge proposal has been made between the Little Willie John Fever article and the Madonna Fever article since they are both about the same song.
- Support as they are the same song. Steelbeard1 (talk) 22:40, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Support. Quite they are the same song. --Richhoncho (talk) 22:58, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Support. It's not a Madonna song and the disambiguation title is therefore misleading. --Wolfer68 (talk) 10:09, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Support - same song, same resons,,, Doc9871 (talk) 16:02, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- Support - It's not Madonna's song. An article about a song is supported by the song, not the artist; so therefore Madonna's cover of "Fever" be on the page regarding the 1956 song.--The Rogue Leader (talk) 05:39, 27 December 2009 (UTC)ver v
- Support - it's a cover version pure and simple.
- Support - It's not her song, just a cover version. It doesn't stand out from other covers. It's a song with dozens of covers, why should the Madonna version be treated special. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.11.146.45 (talk) 14:32, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Support Having different articles for different covers of the same song risks lack of consistency - which has happened in this case, with the Madonna version not naming the songwriters, but referred to the song as belonging to the r&B artist that first. The cover brings little new to the song, although it is a very good cover. I think Madonna recorded it to strengthen her persona's position as a latter day diva. wcf Facts are stubborn. - This is stupid. The article has enough information to be it's own article, even though it's a cover. Would just make the page for the original a mess. Zacharee (talk) 07:51, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- Merge - Definite support at the Fever (1956) Talk Page also. I am merging these, as well as for Madonna's cover of Rose Royce's Love Don't Live Here Anymore. - eo (talk) 20:57, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
