comment: Large city police departments are usually notable, but not those for towns etc. However, staff lists and the like do not generally belong, and a link to their website does, as an external reference. DGG 00:05, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Sources??

'Reserve Bureau - The Reserve Bureau is staffed by men and women who augment the current complement of MPD officers on a daily basis. Reserve Officers are required to work a minimum of 24 hours each month for a salary of $1.00 per year. The financial, as well as service benefits provided by these Reserve Officers to the Memphis Police Department and the City of Memphis are substantial.'

Were is the source/ references of this? $1:00 per year, I don't think so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.217.145.138 (talk) 08:11, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

I can't find a source for it, but I do know that that information is correct. The $1 a year salary is only to put these people in positions as "employees" so that they can qualify for the health insurance benefits. The reserve officers themselves are basically volunteers, but they receive full training and everything else. Most of them have full-time jobs outside the police department.
Note that the $1 a year only applies to Shelby County, outside the county most reserve officers get no pay. -- Otto (talk) 09:38, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Ok, it's a voluntary position. --138.217.145.138 (talk) 09:58, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
