This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (color, defense, traveled) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

N-word should redirect to the slang term.

Popular consensus is the n-word is typically referring to the slang word rather than the slur. Coronaverification (talk) 07:19, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

Are they not literally one in the same? UnbearableIsBad (talk) 22:33, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
If by "slang word" you're referring to the colloquialism "nigga", then you are incorrect: "N-word" refers to the slur, not the colloquialism. Thanks and happy editing.Chillowack (talk) 22:26, 14 September 2024 (UTC)

Warring over the case of a letter?

@VexVector: and other interested editors need to talk about it instead of this tug of war. Cheers. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs 02:44, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

For the record: I agree with VexVector; it's not a proper noun and is used in the disputed case (puns rule) within a sentence, so should be all lower case. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs 02:49, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
Correct: The word nigger in the opening paragraph should not be capitalized. It is not a proper noun. Vex-Vectoꝛ 02:51, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Another important meaning of the woodpile phrase

The "US slave-era phrase denoting escaped slaves hiding in train-transported woodpiles" ALSO refers to concealed/denied mixed-race ancestry. I don't know how that information should best be included/acknowledged, but it shouldn't be ignored. Poihths (talk) 19:28, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
