Misplaced Pages Article Evaluation: Concussions in American Football
This Misplaced Pages page, related to my topic of CTE Research/Diagnosis, discusses the history and effects of concussions in American Football. In addition, the article also describes how concussions and other blows to the head might lead to debilitating symptoms/diseases later in life, specifically CTE. The article incorporates a variety of main topics (as well as sub-sections) related to concussions including the history in the NFL and other leagues, impact in terms of rules and litigation, and research/tests involved in awareness and prevention. The information is presented logically and in a well-organized way that allows the reader to both move from section to section easily, as well as skip around in the article in order to find specific information. This page includes numerous sources, all of which can be deemed as reliable. The sources include medical journals and articles from well-known sports publications (many written by experienced sports journalists). In one section of the article (which discusses modern neurological testing), there was a point made in the talk page that the source for this section might not be credible. However, this point was brought up by just one user, and seems to have been resolved as the article has been updated since the user posted this point. One way to improve this page could be to include more tables within the document that include better information regarding some of the concussion studies in the various football leagues. While a great deal of this information is in the text, including an organized table might help the reader better locate and understand the information.
