The first ever World Multiple Sclerosis Day, planned for 27 May 2009, is a day organised by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) with the intention of "rais awareness" about multiple sclerosis (MS) and "build global solidarity for the MS movement".
47 countries have pledged to support or recognise the day in some way, which hopes to provide individuals, groups and organisations in the global MS movement with an opportunity to participate in internationally co-ordinated events and activities that look to raise awareness of MS as a global issue and raise funds to support the work of the movement.
