Welcome to Misplaced Pages. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Weightlifting do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Misplaced Pages is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Misplaced Pages uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --WLU 19:14, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- Your link was one of several that I removed, I'm aware that you only added one but the rest were supplied previous to my editing the page and I didn't feel like digging through the history to find out who those editors were. I removed your link because it is to a German website, thus not particularly useful on English wikipedia. Though there is allowances for other languages as sources, I thought an entire German external link was not in compliance with the external links policy. Please read the policy and if you wish to include the external page, make arguments based on policy. It could be that my interpretation is incorrect.
- Also note that if you put a space and word in at the end of a hyperlink, it converts the hyperlink into the word when posted on a wikipage. Thus. Makes things a bit neater. A pipe (|) does the same for internal wikilinks. I've converted the ones on my talk page.
- As a final note, the tag I put on your talk page is a generic template, not something I composed myself. Not everything may apply, the most important thing is read the external links policy before posting any further links. Were I concerned with anything beyond just the link added, I would have reverted those changes. However, the information you added to the page itself was good, so that stayed up. As I also said right at the top of the page, welcome! Misplaced Pages always needs dedicated and friendly contributors so your involvement in the project is a good thing.
