Conflict of interest and username concerns

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. I noticed that the username you have chosen (Skyland Communications) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Misplaced Pages's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Misplaced Pages when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Skyland Trail. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 02:03, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

I have changed my username so that it does not represent my organization. I understand all your other concerns about the content I posted on the Skyland Trail page, but is it not possible for me to edit and update the Mission Statement? Skyland Trail has changed it's mission statement since the creation of the Misplaced Pages page and I feel like that's a neutral, factual update? How have you changed your username? This account's name is a blatant violation of GROUPNAME and runs the risk of being blocked. -- Alexf 11:56, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages cannot use copyrighted text from other websites

Your addition to Skyland Trail has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Misplaced Pages without permission from the copyright holder. (If you are the copyright holder, see Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material without verifiable license; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. —C.Fred (talk) 02:05, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I will read over the terms of use better so that I can better understand how to appropriately update the Skyland Trail page in a neutral point of view. I did not realize I could not use information from our website to update the page. I will try to make the page more objective and offer facts and support when updating the page. My apologies for updating info before reading the terms of use more closely. Skyland Communications (talk) 02:56, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
