2006 NEPGT calendar

I noticed you have done a lot of recent work on the American minitours. Right now I'm writing a page on local minitour player Geoffrey Sisk. I came across this Boston Globe article which has something of a schedule for the New England Pro Golf Tour in 2006. Thought it may be of some help.

Oogglywoogly (talk) 23:59, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks. May take me a while to get that far! wjemather 21:12, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Ok, please let me know when (or if) you start working on the NEPGT. It would be useful for me. In addition, here is another article about the tour. Looks like it was inaugurated in 2001.

Another link.
Oogglywoogly (talk) 19:51, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Oogglywoogly

Sorry to bombard you with all these pages but in my research for Sisk I also found a link for something called the North American Pro Golf Tour (NAPGT). I did not see this tour referenced in your minitour section; it may be of some use.

1976 Natal Open

You noted in the your sandbox that the 1976 event was "cancelled." Your source is something called "WoPG 1997." Sorry but I don't know what this is. If you have any more information that would be helpful; I may put this information on the 1975–76 Southern Africa Tour page. And I almost certainly would add this info on the Natal Open page as the event ceased to exist after that year's cancellation.

Regards,

Oogglywoogly (talk) 00:06, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

WoPG is Mark McCormack's World of Professional Golf annual. I have a few in my "library" but they're currently buried in the spare room. I'll take a look when I get chance. wjemather 11:44, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Ok if you are capable of retrieving the relevant information that would be great. I suspect that that year's cancellation is related to the general cessation of the event so it could be quite valuable. If it is too much trouble, however, please don't bother.
Oogglywoogly (talk) 06:27, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Oogglywoogly
As suspected, it was cancelled after the withdrawal of the title sponsor (Vavasseur International had been taken over), and the NGU couldn't find a replacement.

1999 Asia Golf Circuit

Searched all over to try and find sources and info on what events took place in that year. Absolutely nothing outside of the Kirin Open which we already know of. It leads me to think did any events even take place outside of that one event?? Nothing on the newspaper archives, also tried using Korean news sources using translation but next to nothing. I don’t have McCormack's WoPG 2000 but I assume the only event he lists is the Kirin Open? Jimmymci234 (talk) 12:42, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

I have WoPG 2000, but McCormack had stopped covering the old Asia Golf Circuit by then. The best I found was a source that said there were 6 tournaments (but that could easily be an error is it was a 1998–99 season). Anyway, as with previous seasons, it's probably safe to say the Kirin Open was the only tournament that mattered. wjemather 12:52, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

Egyptian Open

Hi! I’m just wondering why you removed my short description on the Egyptian Open page. I just want to make sure I’m not doing something wrong. Thanks! Atremari (talk) 11:47, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

@Atremari: Sorry, I didn't realise I had. Must be a bug in how the editor switches from source to visual to source editing. I've restored it now. wjemather 11:52, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

the BC Open

Hi,

I am looking for some info on the BC Open and I see you have updated the page a lot. I want to know what the tournament record for a low round was. Is the the 62 Jay Delsing shot in 1985? Can you point me in the direction as to where you found all of your info and maybe I can dig deeper.

Thank you,

Will Wsaulsbery (talk) 19:37, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

@Wsaulsbery: Sorry, I don't have that information, but according the article, Hal Sutton shot 61 in the final round in 1995. Old tour media guides are a good starting point for information. wjemather 06:22, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Robert de Vogüé

Hello, Wjemather. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Robert de Vogüé".

In accordance with our policy that Misplaced Pages is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Misplaced Pages, and happy editing. Liz 16:13, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

The page has been moved again to Pleasure Beach Resort. As you've moved it back in past I was hoping you could do the honours again - I'd do it myself but I'm not clear on the procedure! Thanks. Barry Wom (talk) 09:08, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

Brae Burn Country Club: Scorecard

Hi Wjemather,

I am almost done with the Brae Burn Country Club page. However, there are some closing issues with the scorecard.

  • The biggest issues is with a set of tees on the main course. According to the Brae Burn website the main course has green tees as an intermediate set of tees. But on the USGA's website they seem to use white tees for this set. (Fwiw, this BlueGolf website only notes white tees too.) Are the green tees/white tees the same?
  • On the Highlands Course there are these combined handicaps. For example, on the 6th hole it is 17/18. Do you know what's up? I have never seen this before.

Thanks,

Oogglywoogly (talk) 07:08, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

My view is that if we are going to include scorecards (and I don't see the encyclopedic value in having them for most courses) then we should only include the yardages and pars for the longest/championship tees (i.e. those that are notable); omitting things like handicap Stroke Indexes that are not encyclopedic. wjemather 12:30, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
That's an interesting idea. However, many clubs we have pages for have a Scorecard sectipn. It appears that something akin to a precedent has been set. If we are to establish consensus that we should only include championship-level yardages, I would prefer a full discussion on the main talk page.

Proposed deletion of 2022 Legends League Cricket

Notice

The article 2022 Legends League Cricket has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable event, and we had consensus to delete the parent tournament article

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. @Ustc3092024: Betzillion is not a reliable source, so is not suitable for use as a reference. It has been added by multiple anonymous accounts recently with a clear aim to promote that website. This practice is against Misplaced Pages rules. If the inserting of this website persists, it is likely to be blacklisted. There appear to be no remaining instances of this site being used as a reference. wjemather 10:40, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
So how this page have still there as a reference? Where there is no live url?

@Ustc3092024: That is a different issue. Generally, citations should not be removed simply because the link no longer works; see WP:LINKROT. Anyway, I have now replaced this particular source. wjemather 13:50, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

advice on sandbox

Hi User: Wjemather,

First off, this is the same person as Oogglywoogly. I recently changed my username to Chief disambiguator.

Secondly, and most importantly, I would like some advice on sandbox. I noticed you use it a lot and figured you could help me out. I recently started a sandbox page under the title "User:Chief disambiguator/sandbox." During research for some golfers profiles, I recently added citations to the page but I'm not sure how to preserve the information. This is crucial because, for two golfers recently, I collected loads of information but my computer acted up and I lost everything. Originally, I was thinking about clicking "Publish Page" in an effort to preserve the information in the sandbox but I didn't because I thought it might also publish the page prematurely. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,

Chief disambiguator (talk) 21:57, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

You can retain your sandboxes indefinitely and there is no real limit to how many you can have or what you name them. wjemather 11:09, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. Weirdly, well before I even attempted to publish the page of Ron Howell (the guy I was thinking about creating a page for) it was already rejected. Here is the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/User:Chief_disambiguator/sandbox. Do you know what's up?
Thanks,

Book: History of the PGA Tour

I am thinking about purchasing this book. I have seen a citation for this book floating round WP: Golf. For example, see citation #9 under the page of Jimmy Demaret and citation #20 on the page of Gene Sarazen. Specifically, I was thinking about using the book to create seasonal calendars for the early tour era.

However, on the Amazon page for the book there are only two reviews and one of them is negative. I know they're only customer reviews but it's all I have to go off of. Do you know anything about the quality of this book?

Thanks,

Chief disambiguator (talk) 21:24, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't know much about it. However, "produced with the full cooperation and support of the PGA Tour" would lead me to believe it's not an entirely independent source, so should be used with caution – the PGAoA and PGA Tour have a long history of revisionism. wjemather 09:39, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
