Michael An Goff (also spelled Michael de Cuffe) was a 15th-century Irish chieftain and leader of the O'Carroll sept of the Uí.. Dá..la clans, who lived in what is now County Offaly, Ireland.
Michael An Gof was a prominent figure in Irish history, particularly during the Wars of the Geraldines, a series of conflicts that took place in the 14th century. He was a loyal supporter of the Geraldine faction, led by the Earls of Desmond, and was involved in several key battles against the rival Butlers of Ormonde.
Michael An Goff is also notable for his role in the origins of the Anglo-Norman settlement in Ireland. In the 13th century, the Anglo-Normans, led by Prince John, invaded Ireland and established numerous settlements throughout the country. Michael An Goff was one of the Irish leaders who initially resisted the Norman invasion, but later became an ally of the Normans and played a key role in the early history of English settlement in Ireland.
