In enzymology, a 1,6-dihydroxycyclohexa-2,4-diene-1-carboxylate dehydrogenase (EC 1.3.1.25) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction

(1R,6R)-1,6-dihydroxycyclohexa-2,4-diene-1-carboxylate + NAD {\displaystyle \rightleftharpoons } catechol + CO2 + NADH + H

This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases, specifically those acting on the CH-CH group of donor with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is (1R,6R)-1,6-dihydroxycyclohexa-2,4-diene-1-carboxylate:NAD+ oxidoreductase (decarboxylating). This enzyme participates in benzoate degradation via hydroxylation and benzoate degradation via coa ligation.
