General elections were held in Liechtenstein on 6 February 1966. The Progressive Citizens' Party won eight of the 15 seats in the Landtag, but remained in coalition with the Patriotic Union.

Electoral system

The 15 members of the Landtag were elected by open list proportional representation from two constituencies, Oberland with 9 seats and Unterland with 6 seats. The electoral threshold of 18% had been replaced by a basic mandate system due to the Liechtenstein constitutional court ruling it unconstitutional in 1962. The election used a majority clause, where the party with the most votes also received the most seats. Only males were eligible to vote.
