Iva Majoli defeated Patty Schnyder in the final, 7–6, 6–4 to win the singles tennis title at the 2002 Family Circle Cup. It was her first title since the 1997 French Open, and the eighth and last title of her career.

Jennifer Capriati was the defending champion, but lost in semifinals to Schnyder.
