The 44 VA Hospital/Orange Station-Newark Penn Station is a bus route operated by New Jersey Transit in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating through Orange and Newark.
Route description
Buses head north from VA Hospital/Orange Station, in Orange along Railroad Place at Essex Avenue/South Day Street, Main Street, Tremont Avenue, Scotland Road, Sanford Avenue, Rhode Island Avenue, Freeman Avenue, Central Avenue, and University Avenue to Newark Penn Station in Newark.
History
The route was originally operated by Transport of New Jersey, and was later transferred to Coach USA ONE Bus. It was operated by Coach USA ONE Bus until October 8, 2023, when New Jersey Transit took over operations of the route.
Evening buses used to terminate at Erie Loop instead of Orange Rail Station; this routing ceased when Orange-Newark-Elizabeth ONE Bus took over the route.
