History

Philippe Charriol

In 1983, Philippe Charriol quit his position as president of Cartier to found his own luxury brand in Geneva, Charriol. His first collection in 1983, the Celtic Collection, involved the iconic cable signature of the brand. Charriol quickly gained distribution across the Americas, Asia, and Europe.

In February 2019, Philippe Charriol died in a racing accident on the Circuit Paul Ricard race track in le Castellet, France. Later that spring, his daughter Coralie Charriol, then the brand's creative director, was elected chairman of the board of directors, and then CEO in 2020. At the 2023 Watches & Wonders exhibition, she unveiled her first watch collection, the St-Tropez Navigator.

The Philippe Charriol Foundation funds Hong Kong artists via scholarships to overseas institutions.
