He was born Denis Peter Makokha Mukoya in November 1987 at Mater Misericordiae Hospital in South B Estate, Nairobi County to Dr. Gabriel Wanyama Mukoya, a Pharmacist and University Lecturer and Florence Abega Mukoya, a banker at Barclays Bank PLC (now Absa Bank Kenya). He finished form four in 2005 with an admirable grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Examination. Career

Contested Member of National Assembly

2022 Parliament Run

Makokha Mukoya was eligible as a duly-registered citizen of the Republic of Kenya to contest to become Member of National Assembly (Kenya) - MNA of Lurambi Constituency in Kakamega County in the August 2022 Kenyan general election. He initially threw his hat into the ring as a life Member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party where he had been an ordinary member since November 2012. However, following the event dubbed 'Kenyan Earthquake' occasioned by the political movements of 7th Vice President of Kenya, Hon. Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi in February 2022, which resulted in then incumbent MNA, Hon. Mukhwana Titus Khamala, formerly of Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) decamping to the ODM Party and eventually get bestowed with a direct ticket. As such, Makokha was left ruthlessly exposed with a spanner definitively thrown into the works. He took the bold step to continue in the race as an independent candidate albeit with strong affiliations to the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya Alliance Coalition, then led by 2nd Prime Minister of Kenya, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. Mukoya ran as a social democrat who strongly believes in reform & transformation. Indeed, his slogan for the race was "Utumishi na Mabadiliko" (Servant & Transformative Leadership). As a rookie candidate, he put forth a spirited campaign but ultimately lost to then incumbent, Hon. Mukhwana Titus Khamala.
