Shahadat Hossain (Bengali: শাহাদাত হোসেন), also known as Shaadat Hossain, is a Bangladeshi politician and doctor. He is the current Mayor of Chittagong. He was the former president of Chittagong Metropolitan unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Early life and education

Dr. Shahadat Hossain was born on 2 June 1966 in a Muslim family in Chittagong. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery - MBBS Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program from Chittagong Medical College.

In addition to his political experiences, Dr. Shahadat Hossain is also a successful physician. He is the Managing Director of Treatment Hospital near Prabartak Cirle. All throughout the Covid pandemic, he had been providing free telemedicine services to patients through this Facebook page.

Political career

Shahadat Hossain started his political journey with student politics and was the founding president of the Chittagong Medical College unit of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal. Apart from this, he served as the general secretary and later president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party of Chattogram Metropolitan unit. Besides, he has been playing an important role in the ongoing movement led by BNP in the fight to bring back democracy in Bangladesh.
