Favour Chinedu Chukwuedu Ikemefuna (born May 3, 1999), widely known as Favi, is a Nigerian alternative hip hop rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is known as a pioneering figure in Nigeria's Alternative Hip-hop music scene, creating FineDope one of the country's earliest alternative hip-hop and Afroswing communities in 2018, and is widely regarded for his contributions to the genre, earning the nickname "Omo Oro" or “ọmọ ọ̀rọ̀” a Yoruba phrase meaning "son of wealth."

Early life

Favi was born on May 3, 1999, to an African music influenced family in the Bariga area of Lagos State where he grew up and spent a significant amount of his childhood, but originally hails from Delta State. Influenced by Lagos's vibrant hip-hop and Afrobeat scenes, Favi began making music during his secondary school years. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in geography and regional planning from the University of Benin.

Career

On May 20, 2020, Favi debuted officially on streaming platorms with the release of "Flexxx". On April 9, 2021, Favi released the EP Vibe and Vices, featuring a guest appearance from Nigerian artist and songwriter Huloo on the track Standard. On February 22, 2022, Favi collaborated with renowned alternative hip hop rapper Psycho YP on "Friday Night." On August 17, 2022, the two artists collaborated again, this time with a guest appearance from singer and songwriter HotKid on "Crime." On 29, November 2023 Favi released "OMO ORO." The single was included in TooXclusive's Next Rated Songs of 2023.

Omọ ọ̀rọ̀ & FineDope Community

Notable Nigerian figures often receive nicknames or titles in their native languages to recognize their achievements. Favi, for example, has been bestowed with the Yoruba title "Omo Oro," meaning "Son of Wealth," in recognition of his significant contributions to the Nigerian music scene, particularly through his creation of the FineDope community in 2018. This community has been lauded by The Sun Nigeria in 2023 as one of Nigeria's "Music communities to watch" due to its impact on talent development.
