This initiative, known as the Future Combat Systems (FCS), is focused on enhancing the capabilities of combat units. Although its primary design emphasizes offensive operations, the FCS-equipped unit of action (UA) is intended to remain versatile across a spectrum of operational contexts. The overarching goal of the FCS is to bolster the strategic deployability and operational maneuvering capacity of ground combat formations, all while ensuring that their potency in terms of lethality and survivability remains intact.
