Johan Carl Thuerecht von Castenschiold (14 June 1787 – 30 January 1844) was a Danish civil servant and nobleman who served as Governor of Iceland (1813–1819).

Castenschiold was born in Skælskør to Joachim Melchior Holten Castenschiold and Elisabeth Gysbertsdatter Behagen. The Castenschiold family is descended from his great-grandfather, Johan Lorentz Carstensen, who was a plantation owner on the Caribbean island of St. Thomas. He studied law at the University of Copenhagen, graduating in 1806.
